Has anyone tried FanDuel before? Would you recommend it?

I did it a couple times a few years ago. I think that is when it was just starting up. I did a one week league with Mike Dempsey one week, and then Hacker and Scobee the next. I guess it's ok if you are into gambling and invest some time and money into it. Not much different then any other fantasy league really.

 

Wasn't a fan of the set up though. May have changed since I have been on though.

I was checking it out earlier, like Trav said it's more of a week to week betting site. You build your roster on salary cap basis and you score within the top ranks you win cash. most of the leagues had 300,000 + players so I imagine you'd have to do pretty good to break the top 1000 or so.

Baseball/basketball/football.


There are a bunch of sites.


Fanduel - biggest site with a massive player pool but probably one of the worst sites for roster creation and editing. If you play multiple lineups it's a real pain to make quick changes before lineups lock. Played plenty of people in nba who were scratched because it's a pain to edit. To their credit they are trying to fix it but there is work to do.


Their software is barely good enough to host their player pool. The site crashed at 12:30 2 weeks ago and tons of entries had to be refunded.


Draftkings - personally my favorite site. The best site in my opinion and making lineups is very easy. Editing multiple lineups is very easy because of the structure. Not nearly as big of a player pool but they constantly push the envelope with guaranteed prize pools. I like this for nfl a lot because they removed the kicker.


Draftday/fantasy aces - much smaller sites but both have a nice interface. Fantasy aces is pretty unique with how their lineup building looks. Both have 2 qb roster spots which is always fun.

Not thag many players but still takes a real big score to win money. I think the max fanduel can have is 57k.

I've played quite a bit mostly during NBA season. I feel like the NBA daily leagues have the least amount of luck involved.

 

 

There are too many random, unpredictable injuries in football that could cost you a chunk of your bankroll over something you couldn't plan for.

 

My main advice to you is to do your research. The people you are putting your money up against are most certainly doing theirs.

 

The goal is to know how many points per dollar you are aiming for For example, DraftKings, a score of 150 will put you on the brink of cashing in GPPs (Guaranteed Payout Pools). You are given 50,000 in salary to build your roster, so you are aiming for guys to get 3x their value. I picked Chad Henne as my Week One QB because he was 5,000 (the lowest possible price for a QB). He ended up scoring something like 18.9 points or something. Henne getting 18.9 points with a 5,000 price tag is more valuable than Manning getting 25 points with a 9,000 price tag.

 

Always consider using backups/injury replacements because their values are lower than what their workload should produce. It's a good way to get "3x value" and using leftover money on studs. The price for players set at the beginning of the week and don't change. Follow the injury report Sunday morning and be aware of all game-time decisions.

The key for basketball is projecting minutes which is easy for some teams and impossible for others, looking at you Bucks. Once you do that you can use fantasy points per minute to see what players have a good chance to outperform their salary.
