A Spark

#1

Looking back over the past 5 quarters, I can see that the offense has had a signficant spark with Blake "BK5" Bortles. Its great to see the offense move up and down the field and show a little of progression. I love seeing a QB who just doesnt take the sack, but tries to make something out of every play. This kid is exciting and is a good spark for a previously dying offense.

The question is, where does the spark on the defense come from? Is there a veteran to sign out there? Champ Bailey perhaps? Is there a big hit to be made in a game which causes a fumble and a score? Will someone take a pick 6 to the house? Is there a practice squad guy on someone's team that can come in and make an immediate impact?

Whatever the case, the FO or coaching staff has to do something to impact this defense like Bortles has impacted this offense. The players should be taking self-evaluations to see how they can make an impact. This team as a whole must play with more pride, passion and heart. I'd love to see this team win THIS year.

Go Jags!!

I think the spark will come when we stop playing prolific offenses. Like next week.

Simply signing a veteran will not provide a spark for the defense. Blake Bortles actually is making the defense want to play better, not just the offense.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Champ get a crack at the centerfield spot.

Yes. Add Champ Bailey. Just go ahead and ink Ed Reed too. And talk Brian Urlacher out of retirement. And resurrect Reggie White from the dead.

Think about it.  We are competitive for the first half on both sides of the ball.  We get to the second half and the other team dominates.  We are not making the proper adjustments.  It's been the same story for us for a long time.  The coaching staff does not make the proper adjustments and take too long to recognize what the opposing coaches are doing.  We are getting outcoached from week to week.

You have to understand what kind of person Champ Bailey is. Champ has played for 16 seasons and is looking for a contender for a super-bowl, or a winning franchise. He isn't going to sign with the team that is probably the worst in the league. Plus, Champ is really old, I rather hold the money for McCourty, Avril, Flowers, Cromartie, Ndamukong Suh, and Orakpo for next year. Will Blackmon and Alan Ball are the veterans to help the secondary. Truth is, the guys are just really really bad.

Incognito, Suh, hell bring in Ray Rice and let Blackmon play. NFL needs to lay off on these people nobody actually believes they're "heroes". Bring in every bully, wife beater and wastoid who cares, let's just see some actual football.

The spark for the defense won't be a player added.  It'll be a moment or a game when everything falls into place.

Huh

I really think this is accurate. We're getting closer. It's like a lot of things you try and try and try and keep making the same mistakes, when suddenly, you get it. Almost by accident. And from then on it's almost easy.

Ask a quarterback how long it took him to throw a spiral. Once he figured it out, it was easy. But the process to get there is long. From what I understand, our scheme defensively as a whole is pretty complex. We're watering it down to learn pieces as quick as possible.

Step 1: Kidnap JJ Watt and Richard Sherman

Step 2: Brainwash them, and make them forget who they were

Step 3: Get them plastic surgery

Step 4: DEFENSE

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I'm going to be honest and say that Ed Reed can most likely still play safety better than whoever we have back there.

And whoever we have back there now will not be on the team next year.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

We've failed every other "test", I don't see why this would be different.
