Excited for the start of the season this week. It'll help take my mind of the Jaguars.

 

Who else is excited for the season? What are your projections? Who is your team?

 

I'm a NJ Devils fan. I think we have a good shot at the playoffs, though I'm not sure we'd make it too far if we got in. Also, this is the first year I'm playing fantasy hockey, which should be interesting.

Not a huge hockey guy. I do root for the Wings, though, especially come playoff time. It would be nice to land another Stanley Cup.

Hockey is a great sport to watch    It takes tremendous skills to play hockey at a high level.  Unfortunately,  the NHL playoff system is horrific.   It's hard for me to watch a regular season game,  knowing that more than half the teams reach the playoffs and that lower seeded teams in the playoffs often pull off upsets.   Once the NFL Draft is over,  that's when I really get into the NHL.  The Kings-Blackhawks 3rd Round playoff series in 2014 was a classic!

Regular season games are OK, certainly not as boring as NBA regular season games but the NHL playoffs are unmatched in excitement. It's a 60 minute game with 60 minutes of action- compare that to a 60 minute NFL game which has about 15 minutes of actual play.

 

Boston Bruins- should be good again this year, expect a big year out of Milan Lucic. Tukka Rask is a quality goalie, then there's Patrice Bergeron, David Krecji, the always active Brad Marchand and the quietly capable Gregory Campbell. Defense has an aging Zdeno Chara plus Dennis Seidenberg, Johnny Boychuck, Dougie Hamilton and Torrey Krug. They are very talented and should go deep into the playoffs.

Going to the NJ-FLA game tonight to watch my team. I'm expecting a bigger crowd than usual since it's the Panthers home opener. Hopefully the Devils won't blow this one like they did last year. :down:

Sidney Crosby with a nice start to the 14/15 season. 6 points, 3 goals and 3 assists. Not bad for a guy who done on here claims isnt as good as advertised.

Sidney Crosby is a better hockey player than Eric Lindros was. That much is obvious to anyone that isn't a Flyers fan.

Lindros = Hershel Walker.

 

The team that benefited most from Lindros (like Walker) is the team that traded him away.

 

Ultimately, Quebec (Colorado Avalanche) got Peter Forsberg, Mike Ricci, and Philly's #1 pick in 1993 & 1994.  Quebec draft Jocelyn Thibault in 1993 and traded him for Patrick Roy.  At the end of the day, you give up Lindros and you get Foresburg and Patrick Roy and a few Stanley Cups.
