Post Week 7, Who Do You Think Will Be In The Playoffs?

#1
(This post was last modified: 10-13-2014, 09:21 AM by TravC59.)

Who do you think will be in the final four come season's end based on how things have shaken out through the first seven weeks so far?

Here are mine.

Miss. State

FSU

Baylor

Ole Miss

I know you've changed the question, but I'm going to stick with my previous format.

The four I EXPECT to earn a spot in the playoffs:

Ole Miss

FSU

Oregon

Notre Dame

The four I believe have staked the best claim so far:

Mississipi State

Ole Miss

FSU

Baylor

So you think that the loser of FSU-ND still makes the playoffs?

Yes I do. The Big 12 still has a lot of time to beat each other up and they don't have a great OOC schedule to bolster up the conference as a whole for a 1 or 2 loss champion. I still think Michigan State loses at least one more and Ohio State hasn't exactly racked up a lot of quality wins either. Assuming the loser of FSU v. Notre Dame wins out, you've got a 1-loss team with multiple quality wins that won their conference (FSU) or played and beat teams from pretty much every major conference (ND) with their only loss being to another top 4 team. Put them up against the previous two mentioned conference champs and a non-division winning SEC West or 2-loss UGA team and I think FSU/ND gets picked.

They've done several mock committees now using the actual committee and/or sportswriter stand-ins on previous years and each time, they've gone 4 teams from 4 different conferences. Just a side effect of how committees and compromise work out.

Very interesting. I like the line of thinking. Time will tell.

Prediction:  Georgia runs the table and beats the SEC West rep in the SEC Championship game.

No one is playing at the defensive level of Ole Miss right now. Holding A&M to 7 points until the laat 6 or so mins only to let the younger guys on D give up a couple cheap TDs. Miss State has honestly been lucky to have so many dumb turnovers go their way, but they impress by capitalizing. I put FSU up out of respect for laat year. And Oregon always seems to just miss out on the top two spots at the end of the year. This new playoff format may be the best thing to ever happen to them

What if FSU loses to ND, but wins ACC title with 1 loss. Will the committee keep out the ACC champ?
