Quote: Not denying he wasn't a better scorer, but their game is nowhere near similar. Gretzky to Crosby is at least a more similar comparison in player. As would Lindros be to someone like Keith Tkachuk, Brendan SHanahan or Mark Messier. Quote:Lindros = Hershel Walker. I agree. The Flyers would have been better off just keeping Forsberg and not making that trade. Forsberg became one of the best players in the game himself, and the Flyers would have had their own picks to build around him.
It didn't take long for the comparisons and "this guy is better than this guy"
![]() Quote:Not denying he wasn't a better scorer, but their game is nowhere near similar.Flyers problem for many, many, years has been goalie. I can't remember the last time they had a goalie that could carry the team. And I agree, you can't compare Lindros to Crosby. Two totally different types of players. Although I will say, it was a shame that he had all of the concussion issues. ![]()
You can't compare Manning to Alan Ball either, two totally different types of players. You can definitely say Manning is a better football player than Alan Ball.
Sidney Crosby is a better hockey player than Eric Lindros was. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I certainly agree that the Flyers really have had their issues with goalies over the past several decades, but it hasn't been the only problem. THis team hasn't drafted/ developed a top of the line defenseman since Behn Wilson. That was over 3 decades ago! Even when they had the standout pairing of Mark Howe and Brad McCrimmon, those were both got from trades. Since that time the best defensemen the Flyers have had was Dmitri Yuskevich, Eric Desjardins, Kimmo Timonen and now Mark Streit. None of those are anything better than a run of the mill "decent" type of player. They did draft a few over the years as well, but they missed badly. I'll give em credit for trying their darndest to get Shea Weber in free agency the other year, but bottom line is they didn't get him. The lack of quality puck moving D-men over the years has been just as big an issue for the Flyers as Goaltender has been, IMO.

the rangers offense looked really good last night, i was really excited. nash looks like hes back to his old self..............................
and then the third period happened, NY rangers were basically setting up islanders players for one times in their own zone. it was awful. and the flyers are dirtbags.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:Red Wings > Flyers. Thats really going out on a limb there, huh, chief?... The Flyers right now are just an average hockey team at best. Years of bad GM'ing has culminated in what they are now.
Quote:I certainly agree that the Flyers really have had their issues with goalies over the past several decades, but it hasn't been the only problem. I'll agree somewhat, saying both positions have been lacking. But they have made runs in the playoffs and a good goalie can carry you through the playoff. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote: When it comes to assessing one team being better than another I've always told it like it is. Also....Pot. Kettle. Black. much???
