Ebola: Texas nurse tests positive
|
Quote:You're still skewing the discussion away from the point I disputed, that the government should not bring patients here proactively. Closing the borders is a different issue. Close them, build walls, live in bunkers - Ebola will eventually get here. Better to learn how to deal with it in the best facilities possible. I'm not sure how I'm skewing the discussion, that's not my intention. Your point as I read it was that we had to be proactive and study Ebola here because it was coming one way or another. I disagree, Ebola didn't show any signs of coming here until we started accepting flights back in from West Africa, that was the only way Ebola was making it over here. My evidence is how the virus has spread every where else, only with direct contact to West Africa. My isolationist views are more in regards to military interventions, I'm not against helping the third world. I am against bringing their problems over here. Quote: Yep, allowing direct flights here from those countries that had it was either the product of incompetence or as said, intentionally having motive for the virus to expeditiously enter our homeland.

Quote:There is no cure, yet. A cure will not be discovered in a field hospital, nor can treatment methods effectively studied. Our borders can be secured proactively by finding a cure or vaccine. They having been dealing with Ebola outbreaks over there for how many years, and it never got here before. Not until they brought back infected people to treat here and those people survived. How long do you think it took word to get around that you can survive if you make it to America? I'm not talking conspiracy theories and black helicopters kind of stuff, I'm just talking about people willing to take any chance they can to survive, and not caring about who they infect in the quest for their own survival.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

How long do you think it took word to get around that you can survive if you make it to America? Or, For all we know that person a few weeks ago could have intentionally came here with the intention to spread it, as a bio- type of terrorist attack. He did lie his way over here. I wouldn't put anything past the realm of possibility at this point. I also think its a joke that we would treat an illegal over here to free health care. In other countries its no check, cash or credit card - no service. I don't mind that type of benefit for people that are actually legal citizen of this country, but for an illegal alien?? Its asinine. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

The Government keeps saying that there is nothing to worry about. They say that it can only be spread through direct contact with a sick, infected person.
So, if they're so sure, why did a nurse with expert medical training catch the disease? Why is it spreading exponentially in Africa? It turns out that I couldn't keep my doctor, so forgive me if I don't buy into this one either. PS: Has the prez labeled Ebola as a "phony disease" yet?
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Agreed. rollerjag also assured us all of what you spoke of in your first sentence too a few weeks back... As I said, this president is either the most incompetent one in history, or he knows exactly what he's doing....I tend to believe its the latter. We show less advertisements to registered users. Let's also forget the fact this has been blown wayyyyyyyyyyyy out of proportion. Honestly, Obama really sucks at getting this thing to spread and wipe out the US population.
Quote:Sure it is hard to argue against it. Obama hasn't done anything to stop Ebola from spreading State side, he's done just about everything possible to create the perfect storm. Like I said, I'm not going to say he "wants" Ebola spreading here, but I'll argue he hasn't done anything meaningful to stop it. What has spread stateside is the news. How many people have ebola in the US? Please remind, is the #2? That [BLEEP] spreading like butter on toast.
Quote:What has spread stateside is the news. How many people have ebola in the US? Please remind, is the #2? That [BAD WORD REMOVED] spreading like butter on toast. Its in the beginning stages. But yeah, keep mocking this like the typical liberal would. Quote:I read the article, they're argument is we can't seal off the 3 countries because they can't fight the disease on their own. That's not my point and never has been, sealing ourselves off from them is what we should have done. Maybe there is a debate to be had on flights back and forth. But it is a much more complicated issue then that. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/e...story.html. You view the world way too simplistically without considering all the impacts of sealing our borders. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Its in the beginning stages. You'd think half America was infected the way the news has been. Wrong again. Quote:What has spread stateside is the news. How many people have ebola in the US? Please remind, is the #2? That [BAD WORD REMOVED] spreading like butter on toast. It's a pretty dangerous game to play. Don't act like 2 people confirmed isn't a big deal, it was just 2 months ago we where told it showing up here wasn't even within the realm of possibility. I'm not claiming it's an oncoming epidemic but it shows a serious lapse of judgement by all parties involved the way we've handled it. I think it is a big deal, just not to the extent the media has portrayed it. And as the media portrays it, public opinion follows. It's amazing the control they have on America. And these guys wore protective gear? I'm starting to think we're just not sure how it spreads.
