Quote:that's the guy form a couple seasons ago that was all barricaded in his room upstairs in the middle of an abandoned town. Rick tried to convince him to come with the group but he was bat crazy at that point.

He's also the guy that saved Rick in the first season, I think it was the first episode. IIRC his name is Morgan something.

The character is Morgan Jones, played by a great actor named Lennie James, who was also in Jericho as well as another show I liked a lot, Low Winter Sun.

Good call. I added a warning to the title.
I was watching with a friend who was convinced a main character was going to get killed in the season premier. The repeated interrupted swings at Glen's head were driving her crazy.

I'm glad they wrapped up Terminus. I haven't read the graphic novels, so I had no idea if that place became like the prison, a setting for a season.
I was thinking it was going to happen at that scene lol
spoilers below, last chance to turn back

since he gets his head smashed in with a bat in the comics, though just a bat and throat slitting isn't good enough for how annoying he is on the show, the way negan kills him should be how the show kills him, he 100% deserves it.
Gotta say, the opening sequence was awesome. Loved how Rick picked off the last Terminus gunman and mowed the rest down. Was hoping he was gonna go back to Terminus and finish the job..
In the comics, there is no Terminus. They do deal with cannibals in a story arc right after the prison.
I don't know why people are adding spoiler tags, it says spoilers in the title. Nobody should be shocked..

I added the spoiler warning to the title, but included the spoiler tag in my post, just in case. I'd prefer to not read spoilers from the graphic novels, but the harm there is minimal as the show has deviated from the source.

I think tv spoilers are fair game in this thread. But I'll add spoiler tags to anything I post that relate to the comics.

I just won't read the thread if I don't want spoilers, even without the tag. But I'm usually caught up on the show anyway.

Not the first time I heard they went different directions from the books. Wonder why they strayed..

The additional characters (and sets) allow them to expand storylines, or at least tell them in different ways.

The cannibals in the comic were a campfire group some of them stumbled upon after fleeing the prison.  Having it be a false "sanctuary", and being able to tell the backstory/arc of those who are currently there and how the "sanctuary" has changed (and changed them) made for a much richer story.  It also sets the characters up with experience they'll carry with them should they encounter any other "sanctuaries" during their journey, and whether or not they may be accepting of new additions to their own group.

Carol, to me, seems to be becoming who Andrea was in the comics.  If so, she should have a love interest in the future.

Tyreese still being alive past the prison is really opening up his story as well.  In the comic, he cleared the entire gym by himself in the dark at the prison.  They didn't go there in the show, nor did he beat Rick half to death as he did in the comic when Rick's leadership was being questioned.  Instead, they are working his "beast mode" eruptions in to the show with scenes like the one at the cabin/train station.

I think what this does is leave the comic and show separately appealing to all viewers, regardless of which you've been exposed to before approaching the other.  The themes are exactly the same, even though the stories are told in different ways.

Yeah, seemed kind of stupid to be in a thread talking about the show, if you are behind...

Anyway, I was hoping Glenn would get it.

I always thought Carol and Darryl would hook up

Maybe she'll take a liking to the Army guy.

Oh don't see a fling between Carol and Sgt. Abe.

Question.....

Do you think the group stays together? It is a rather large group now. I do think it is a large group of very capable people in the world that they are in though. This is the largest that the group ("Rick's Group") has been without having the prison and it's resources. Do you see it staying together or not? And if not, how far will they stick together before splitting ways?

I am unsure on how that story will evolve, but it will be fun to see it play out. I personally think a group that size is hard to manage without the use of a permanant structure for protection, growing own food, etc.

Absolutely LOVED the premier! Seriously the scene with Carol and Daryl?! Come on, who didn't say awwww. Speaking of Carol, man think back to season one when she was a battered wife and so meak and quiet. She's now like the terminator! No emotion, just kills. Love her now.

I think if they want to survive, it's best to be in a group of people you can trust.

That's where it fell apart with Carol and Rick before...

Yeah, Carol is born again hard Smile

Carol is my favorite and has been the whole series. I was glad for her reunion with Daryl. Very cool stuff there.
