 You have to take the PFF ratings with about 200 grains of salt.   If you ever take the time to read the page(s) on their website on how they arrive at their ratings you'll see that there are ways for both good and bad performance to be overlooked in their process.  (Not to mention the unnecessary complexity of their system.)

 

We can all see Bowanko playing better than he was a few weeks ago and certainly better than his draft position.  That's what matters right now.

Keep sharing man, it's all for fun anyway.  It's nearly impossible to watch a game and catch everything that's going on, so analysis is good, even if we have to refill the salt shaker.

They are useful and great for fans curious for any and all news like myself.  Sometimes you have to just reconcile them a little bit with what you see on the field .  Also important to note - the grade on Bowanko wasn't really that bad in the grand scheme of their ranking system.  (Brewster / McClendon were finishing in the -2.5 range IIRC)

Nice bounce-back game for him.  He was the main guy we rushed behind for our two rushing TDs, and he did an overall good job protecting Blake.  

 

I saw him drive his guy back 5+ yards multiple times today.  He showed a mean streak almost.  

 

In the run game, he's been playing well for a while now.  Just hasn't been as consistent as you'd like.

 

Not as much "bounce back" as continued development.  I mentioned something about this last week.

That's why I don't trust their fabricated ratings and scale.

 

Bowanko has been playing good football, and it's noticeable.  I've even heard his name called a couple times by the announcers.  That's something for a lineman, especially when you're the Jaguars and no one knows who our players are (and aren't looking to say anything about them positive.)

Wasn't bad at all, PFF had Bortles credited with a hurry and a sack, a hurry and a hit on Harbor, a hurry on Nic Jacobs and the line with only two hurries. One by Bowanko and the other by Beadles.


I'll take that from the line all day long.

I saw a couple plays where the NT abused Bowanko and made plays. It's bound to happened on occasion though, he's just a rookie.


The line as a whole played better which is the most important thing.

Was just re-watching the game a bit (regular broadcast footage) and saw two plays in the first half where  the O-line literally gave Bortles all day.

 

One was huge. It was the scoring drive before halftime - the long catch and run to Harbor.  (Man - Harbor is great at improvising routes when Bortles extends or has extra time.)

 

The line looks great on this play it put us in position to take the lead. 

 

You can see Bortles make his read from left to right and check it down to Harbor.

…finally Bortles bounces outside the pocket when Beadles' guy come free...

 



 

and then Bortles slings the ball to Harbor who's just sitting down in the flat basically with no one near him - and he makes an easy move on an LB sprinting over too late to make the play. 

 

I thought the protection on this one was great even if he had to bounce out at the end to hit Harbor.
