Michigan State 18th.  Not buying it.

Looks like Charlie Strong finally got Texas rolling !!

SMU says screw it !! Let's go back to cheating.  Maybe the NCAA won't pay attention to our basketball team.

Hey TravC59, I also went to OPHS! Class of '99. I don't remember a stud center, but in my class we had B.J. Vosskewl that was 6'9 PF who got a scholarship to Penn State. I actually played against him several times at the YMCA growing up and with friends. Only friend I've ever had that made it into a video game. When were you there?

I remember BJ. Larry Richardson was the Center who went to Indiana. He was class of 1995. I graduated in 97. We had a really good basketball program under Daryl Lauderdale when I was there. I got to see Vince Carter posterize Larry though in the 95 state playoffs. State qtrs or semis. Nasty.

Yeah, we always made it to the playoffs looking strong and then would get crushed somewhere along the way. Now the program seems to have really fallen off with Ridgeview, Fleming Island and Oakleaf splitting the Clay County talent.

SMU was very close to being National Championship contenders until Mudiay was deemed ineligible. He is a transcending talent that was, IMO, the best recruit in the country.

Out for William & Mary, Miami and La-Monroe. Back for Kansas and Georgetown.

Walker being suspedned came out a week ago. Say what you will about what games he is out. Billy Donovan has a proven track record of tough discipline in his tenure at UF.

I'm no Gator fan but I like Donovan and the way he runs that program. But I don't think for a second that the three game suspension is a coincidence.

Billy Donovan is one of the top 5 coaches in the game. I'd put him on my shortlist with Self, Pitino, Cal, and K.

No doubt. He does more with less for the most part.

More with less if you are comparing him to Kentucky, Duke, UNC, and Kansas maybe. Florida has been bringing in a lot of talent and pumping out guys to the NBA.

I think the pumping out is due to Donovan. He takes kids that aren't hghly sought after more often then not and turns them into NBA ready guys. Give him some studs like he did in 2005/2006, 2006/2007 and it's just unfair. If he got the talent consistently like UK, Duke, Kansas it'd be ugly.

I think Tom Izzo is alot like that as well.

Reply

Yeah, but Izzo has been pretty underwhelming as of late.

FWIW, I think Beilein is as good as any coach in the country at finding "diamonds in the rough".
