About as snakebitten of a franchise as you can ask for.

Yeah that was a sad way to lose. I always root for Mike smith, too.

Terrible play calling at the end.

Julio Jones is an awesome talent. But have to wonder if that trade for him was worth it.

If they finish the season with a sub .500 record, which is what looks like is gonna happen, Mike Smith is gone. I'm calling it now.

The Falcons have 1 more win this season then the Jags in the same number of games, in an overall bad division, AND they have a franchise QB.

Is the problem HC, OC or DC? It has to be one of those 3 doesn't it?

This is the 2nd really bad year in a row after making the playoffs a couple of seasons in a row.

It's the roster. They are in the bottom third in both age and payroll. Not a good combo going forward.

I'm thrilled the Lions came back and won the game.  But I do feel for Mike Smith,  who is a class act.

Injuries at Center caught up to the Falcons,  as the one thing that rookie C James Stone couldn't do from a Falcons perspective was commit a holding penalty ( or a similar penalty ) when the Falcons were trying to run down the clock.   That 2nd down play opened a window for the Lions to win this game,  much like the holding penalty by Cowboys LT Tyson Smith did when the Lions cameback to beat the Cowboys 31-30 in week # 8 last season.   My guess is Arthur Blank won't be as patient with Mike Smith as Jerry Jones has been with Jason Garrett in Dallas.   This despite the Cowboys 6-1 start this season.

I think you are correct.   That much more considering that no team is currently over .500 in the NFC South.

Falcon owner Arthur Blank was not happy at all with the Falcons losing after holding a 21-0 lead.

Apparently there is Mr. Blank.

I have no problem with the decision to trade up but he is not worth every pick they gave the Browns.

They have the same coaches that clinched the #1 seed in the NFC two years ago, right? Same HC and OC for sure. So we can't blame them. It must be the playres.

Last year everyone blamed the Julio Jones injury, which put him on IR. So why don't they point to Tony Gonzalez's retirement this season?

Who did the Browns get out of that? Phil Taylor and Brandon Weeden?

Ryan is like Manning in a way. Plays well in the regular season then chokes in the playoffs. Not saying ryan is manning.

Yeah the Browns botched the draft picks, but it was a gamble that really hasn't paid off for the Falcons, at least not yet.

Their drafting overall hasn't been that great though, Peria Jerry and Weatherspoon didn't work out at all, so maybe they would've botched the picks too.

Jerry just wrecked his knees, otherwise I think he would have been a good player. I understand why the F alcons moved up, Jones was the guy that they thought would get them over the hump. I like how they were aggressive, just unfortunate that it blew up in their face

And Jedd Fisch is not going anywhere.

Actually the next head coach can decide to keep Dirk Koetter if Mike Smith is fired.

Oh, I thought the board had taken a vote - thus Fisch is as good as gone. There are a lot of Junior Offensive Coordinators that post here, you know.

Atlanta's next head coach will not retain Koetter. When's the last time that happened, especially if the new coach is a offensive guy?

They might hire a defensive coach again.

Mike Mularkey retained the services of Mel Tucker when he was hired here.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
