I like him, I think like Cain however he won't get to far. Not having ever held public office will be counted against him. However, it has begun, the campaign process for 2016 is here. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/meet-ben-...d=26735300 It's not so much that never holding public office will be counted against him, although that will occur, it's that never having ever run for public office means he has no campaign experience whatsoever. He could flame out just like Herman Cain and for the same reasons: he's not ready for the scrutiny. My question about Ben Carson is, I know he's a neurosurgeon, and probably a brilliant guy, but has he ever managed anything? Obviously he's never had to run a state or a city. Has he ever managed a business? It appears that one of the big failings of Barack Obama as President stemmed from his never having managed or run anything, so decision making and delegating was often chaotic. As the person who would manage and run the United States of America, Ben Carson would be a real stab in the dark if he was elected, because no one has any idea if he has any talent for GOVERNING THE COUNTRY. Because he's never governed anything. Seriously, would you take a person who has never coached at any level and make him an NFL head coach? How big of a giant ego would a person have to have to make President of the United States their ENTRY LEVEL POLITICAL OFFICE? You know why these people run? To sell books and to make a name for themselves so they can charge $50,000 speaking fees.
I agree, he should've started running for Senate or something, but to go from never governing anything to president is stretch I just don't ever see happening.
He has some good ideas about how to fix this country, and most straw polls I see have him in the top 5

I could see him as a STRONG VP on someone with more experiences ticket. I could see a Cruz/Carson ticket or a Rand/Carson ticket working.

Eh, he's not a great candidate, but he's got as much if not more executive experience as the current bum in the White House.

Quote:I agree, he should've started running for Senate or something, but to go from never governing anything to president is stretch I just don't ever see happening. Ahem. Take a look at the current occupant of the position. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Even Obama was a senator first though your talking about Carson going the Cain route from no public office experience to White House.
Quote:Even Obama was a senator first though your talking about Carson going the Cain route from no public office experience to White House. Senators don't acquire executive experience as Bammer clearly demonstrates. This principle is so clear I challenge anyone to name the last good president who was only a senator with no real world executive experience. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

I agree, I'm not making a case for Obama, I'm just saying going from NEVER holding ANY public office EVER to presidential candidate is a big jump. Not one I'm sure will ever actually succeed in a candidate getting elected. Quote:He was a Senator only 3 years. Most of those he was probably campaigning for Pres. Fair enough but he had a history of working within the political system. Carson is a complete outsider, and while that's appealing in theory it makes him a long shot to be one of the last one's standing during the primaries. Cain displayed this last time around, he was woefully unprepared for the rigors of a political run at the White House.

Not one I'm sure will ever actually succeed in a candidate getting elected. The cynic in me would likely see someone from outside the political sphere as a pure puppet should he get the GOP nod. I just assume both parties just pick who they want to win. :ermm:

Besides, if it was a mistake to elect a guy with as little experience with Obama, then it would be a mistake to elect Ben Carson, for the same reason. We show less advertisements to registered users. Sometimes I wish we could just have a certain candidate to see what the results would be like. If Carson were to get the nod against generic, white, male Democrat how many times would we see the race card used against Carson a la Clarence Thomas. Would it ever be used against GWM(D)? We all remember the terrible things said about Condoleeza Rice (who was probably the smartest person in all of DC while she was there), so there's precedent for the left to attack minorities who go off the plantation so to speak. What would the black vote tally look like when given the choice between accomplished but inexperienced black guy with an ® and GWM(D)? What if we change the D candidate to Hillary? Who wins the battle of the downtrodden minority candidate? After seeing the feminists and the race hustlers go after each other over that video of the girl getting catcalled it would be interesting to see the same fight on a national political scale. Yeah, it would be nice to see what would happen. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

I wonder if Ben Carson would get one-tenth as much attention as he gets now, if he was white.

Quote:That's true, but that doesn't mean we have to suffer Ben Carson for the same reason. I'm really not arguing that I want Carson. I agree with some that he needs a place in an administration to gain political experience if he wants the Oval Office, maybe not as high as VP, but a cabinet-level position that suits his skills and experience. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

I agree with some that he needs a place in an administration to gain political experience if he wants the Oval Office, maybe not as high as VP, but a cabinet-level position that suits his skills and experience. I think he needs to run for election to some other office first. He needs to get the experience of the political combat, dirty tricks, and unexpected revelations that come in an election. Using a cabinet position as a steppingstone to the Presidency is like training to become a boxer and having your first fight be for the heavyweight title. I think he will sink like a rock in the Republican primary. Everyone will play all nice-nice with him in public, but behind the scenes, his campaign will get torpedoed. Professional politicians know how to do that.
Funny thing:
If the Dems choose Hillary and the Republicans choose Carson Then the arguments they have could be similar to the ones they had when Obama first ran, only the OPPOSITE DIRECTION. Hillary is too old! Carson doesn't have enough experience. You don't like Carson? Are you racist?
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
