I saw a guy who shut down Dez Bryant in the first quarter, who then lined up on the other side for the rest of the game.


 

Bryant was more than 50% of the Dallas passing offense. His two big TDs came against Gratz. Most of the rest were passes to the TEs and Murray.

I didnt get the numbers mixed up. Either you just looked at Romo and Dez stats or you watched a different game than me!

The difference between a good GM and a great GM is the ability to find quality talent in the late rounds. With McCray and now Bowanko impressing Caldwell definitely has us on the right track.

 

Sooo....Caldwell gets a pass on Joeckel and Cyp being average at best?  We need Pro-Bowlers in the early rounds.  So far, that hasn't happened.

I don't think anyone's giving him a pass, are they?  Joeckel had to get screws in his ankle in the middle of his rookie year for crying out loud. You'll pardon me if I give him a little more time.  I have a tendency to think he'll look better with an offseason that involves getting stronger instead of trying to walk again without assistance. 

 

Cyprien has been no where near as bad as the whine and moan crowd have let on  - but I think he needs to play better and do it soon to not be labeled a below average pick at 33.

Some players play better on one side. Like Richard Sherman only plays left corner and doesn't follow the teams best WR. Seems to be that way with McCray

I have a plate and 5 screws in my foot right now from the same dr. that fixed Joeckel's ankle. I can totally sympathize with what Luke went through last year. A little more than a month past my surgery and it still feels like I'm never gonna walk again. I can only imagine how hard it most be for him to go against professional athletes only a year removed from having that injury.

No offense - but - that's very naive.  While it may be "his job" - there are dozens of players every year around the league playing below their best due to post injury lack of strength and flexibility.

I'm well aware of where the scheme is derived, LOL.  That doesn't change anything about what I said.  He played well on the other side for parts of two games.   I'd consider shadowing the more dangerous receivers with him regardless of what Richard Sherman (who got torched by Beckham twice today) does.

He was good on the left but has gotten much better since on the right side. Gratz has played solid on the left but went against Dez today where Cyp should of helped multiple times over the top and was just late getting there and couldn't tackle when he was.

No, I know... You're right. It just appears he would struggle more in run blocking than the more finesse pass blocking. But that's not the case.


I also think at some point I'm sick of looking for reasons (excuses). There's adversity all over the place and teams still get results. romo played with a broken back for gods sake. If you're out there, you need to play well - or you can and will get criticized.
