I was fine with the trade when it happened because I thought Joeckel was going to be good. :/

Anyone still touting that the Monroe trade was good move by the Jags is dumb as rocks.

After watching Joeckel and Matthews, beware the team that selects Cedric Ogbuehi.

Monroe and Smith would help us run the ball better and give Blake more time.

Pretty sure that would have helped us in quite a few games this year.

Quote:The 5th round pick was part of the deal to move up and get Allen Robinson, but it was a minor part of the deal. Some other very good WRs (and maybe even Robinson) would have been available had Caldwell not traded up. The other pick was used on Colvin.
Neither pick in the trade up to get Linder was from the Ravens.

Monroe is better than Joeckel. He looked really good for the Ravens tonight, and they also use a zone-blocking scheme. And Caldwell could have used the Joeckel pick on a different player. Trading down to the middle of the 1st and getting Reid, Jarvis Jones, or one of the DTs plus extra picks was a possibility. It was a weak draft and Joeckel wasn't the worst 1st rounder, but Caldwell could have done better by trading down. Don't claim that it's impossible to trade down, Miami jumped up to the very next pick trading picks 12 & 42.

In 2013: Keep Monroe. Sign Andre Smith as a free agent. Trade down to the middle of round 1. End up with two solid OTs and a building block on defense.

You say Monroe looked really good, yet he was beaten a few times, and if Joekel had done the same, people would be killing him (just like they did Monroe when he was here.)

Jarvis jones has done less than jack, btw.

Tommy isn't going to respond. That's his #1 defense when someone makes him look stupid.

Joe Thomas gets beat a few times a game. It happens when you're a lineman.

Nobody makes him look stupid, he does an exemplary job all on his own.

Monroe is better than Joeckel. In the plays I saw he made some key blocks to open up the Ravens running game.

As far as Jarvis Jones, I am not a Steeler fan like you, so I haven't paid attention to how he has played. The point is that there were good players available at pick 12 had Caldwell traded down with Miami. I can only assume that Caldwell would have picked the best prospect, which of course may not turn into the best player, but you go with the odds.

Id take Joekel, Robinson and Linder over Monroe and Ziggy all day.

The 2 picks from the Monroe trade were Aaron Colvin and Chris Smith.

I don't know. Someone just tried to tell me Daryl Smith would help us run the ball better. I must be mistaken.

I thought I just did

Other than Richardson, I don't know of any of the 2013 1st rounders who have exactly set the world on fire. It was a weak draft.

I think they missed on Daryl.

They thought he was done and he's doing very well in Baltimore. With how poor how LB's are, its not a stretch to say he would help in pass defense and run stopping.

I doubt they thought he was done. They just thought it would be better to bring in younger players at the position, that's what they did with the whole entire team. And that is why Gus Bradley will not be fired.

Get over it.

I think it crazy to judge the trade and Jockle so fast. People were calling Tyron Smith a bust when came in for the firt 2.5 years of his career. And now he's looking like the best tackle in the league right now. I'm not saying Luke will do that but how can you judge either way?

This is the same group that loved Reggie Nelson his first year, hated him the next 2 and now complain about our lack of safety play while he is play like a top 6 safety for the Bungles.
