California Transgender Teen Crowned Homecoming Queen

#1

In before The Drifter.

Students from Marina High School in Huntington Beach, CA crowned transgender teen Cassidy Lynn Campbell as their homecoming queen.

Sammy, before you say you'd hit it, remember that she's only 16. And very happy.

She is a human being. Go against your nature and attempt to show a little bit of humanity.

I have about 100 things that I want to say to you about the context of "She" but clearly it would not be very appropriate in public.

You're entitled to your opinion, my main point is that that person, regardless of how you would assign a gender, is a human being who more than likely has had a hard time in life. She, or he, is not an it.

It is a nice story..... SHE is 1 out of 100 that has found acceptance. The suicide rate alone for people like her is 31% Too Damn high, that's why I help.

Kudos to you.

The heroes in that story were her classmates.

Good for her!! If people would just stop worrying about what other people do as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else or break the law, the world would be an easier place to live.

Of all the conditions people are born into, being born in the wrong body really isn't that far-fetched.  You can make whatever definition of he/she you want, but it won't make him/her disappear.  She certainly doesn't seem like she has an incurable mental illness, which is what I guess I'm supposed to believe ...

Im happy for him/her, but this was a sympathy victory.

<div>I really couldn't care less about gender, or sexual preference. I don't get why anyone wants to know, or cares to publicly state their "Life" choices, or "inner" gender.

When someone comes out (so to say) I feel like it must be some form of selfish act that I don't understand. I take it in the same sense that someone would state that they are straight. ... I don't need to know, because I think you are normal, and that is not because I have even one ounce of malice towards either. You are you, I accept that without knowledge of way more than those type of "orientations". That type of personal knowledge is so far at the bottom of my care list that it fell off when I added which type of oil to use in my lawn mower.

"Gay" people should not feel the need to defend themselves, and to me they shouldn't do it at all ... Just like straight people don't. That right there is what I believe in ... and when people lose the desire to know, or need to define themselves sexually to others? Everyone wins.

I drive a Ford ... Does anyone really care? So why would I say it?

I agree with you as far as gay people are concerned. I think we as a society have mostly moved beyond the point where a gay person should feel compelled to declare their sexuality publicly. On the other hand, considering the discrimination, ridicule and downright abuse that was common as recent as a decade ago, I understand why some people did it, and that was often to let others know they weren't alone, and there would be support for anyone who wanted to stop living a lie.

As for transgendered people, I don't think we're there yet, but I also don't think that's what this girl was doing. She was already "out", this was more of a situation where her classmates were showing their support. I think there is a difference.
