Should Telvin just take Cyprien's role at SS?
|
Maybe while we are at it, we can move Allen Robinson to tight end, Linder to right tackle and make Denard the starting quarterback.

Quote:Dude, Cyprien has been terrible. Dude, Cyprien has no help around him and he hasn't even played 2 years in the league. What do you still not get? Are you always this dense? He is NOT playing as bad as you are making him out to be. Quote:I think Bridgewater at 3 is better value than Mack at 3, yes. <div> LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Clown. </div> Quote:The SS in our defense is basically an extra linebacker :/ Agreed that Telvin is faster. Cyp and Kam are 4.6 flat guys... Telvin is a 4.5 flat guy.

HE is one of the people that's a liability back there. He hasn't played 2 years in the league? Geeee, thanks for pointing that out on a Jaguars message board. Surely nobody knew that. Cyprien is a below average safety and is a liability for this defense. Look for Dave to at least get him some competition back there.

Quote:Has no help around him? HE is one of the people that's a liability back there. He definitely doesn't. He's playing with a 6th round 2nd year player and a 3rd round 2nd year player at CB. A 6th round 2nd year player at FS. Multiple rookies and UDFA's at Linebacker. He's constantly bailing out our corners if you actually watched the game. Lol, you're clueless kid. Quote:I think Bridgewater at 3 is better value than Mack at 3, yes. <div> LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Clown. </div>
Cyprien hasnt played that well, but its not like he's a liability like the OP is saying. He needs to fix mental mistakes, thats where the big plays against him come from. Not gonna declare him a scrub yet.

Says the pre-pubescent Tommy. Don't you like PFF? How about you find where Mr. Cyprien ranks as a strong safety in this league. I bet he's below average. disclaimer: I don't take PFF's word for it, but I know you've used them as a reference in the past, so I'm interested to see what you find. Let's be real. Our defensive backs are below average. The entire unit is below average. The only guy that's impressed me is Demetrius McCray. Excuses like being young can only fly for a little longer. If Cyprien (and Evans, and Gratz) don't improve, they'll be gone before their rookie contracts are done. I'm extra hard on Cyprien because he was the highest rated and most highly drafted DB for us. He was supposed to be a leader on defenses, someone we can rely on. He's failed at that. And I'm not just talking about being clueless in coverage as he is sometimes.... He hasn't even put a big hit on anyone in a long time. He's had like 75 tackles this year and still hasn't forced a fumble. He's got ONE pass break-up, which I believe happened in week 1 when he hurt himself. He hasn't sniffed a pass break-up since then. Sorry, but he's not an impact safety. Below average, end of story.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Not gonna declare him a scrub yet. I agree he can eliminate those mental errors at some point. My problem is this: He's a 220 lb monster. He was supposed to be our Cam Chancellor. In 75 tackles this year, he hasn't forced a single fumble. He hasn't recovered a fumble. No INTs. No sacks. Hell, I don't even remember the last time he's tackled someone so hard that made me say "wow!"..... He just doesn't do any of that. He makes routine tackles when he's in position. Sometime, he's out of position. He needs to get a lot better.

Quote:The only guy that's impressed you is McCray because that's who people tell you is impressive. Watch some guys and see why cyprien is struggling. I form my own opinion. I've seen McCray cover Antonio Brown man-to-man and keep him in check. That's impressive for a 7th round pick from a year ago. How about you enlighten me... tell me why it appears Cyprien is struggling. Does it just APPEAR to me that he hasn't caused a single turnover this year? Does it just appear to me that he hasn't forced a fumble yet? Does it appear to me he hasn't had a pass breakup since week ONE. Or is that just because he's "covering for all the bad players around him"?

Quote:I agree he can eliminate those mental errors at some point. Agreed. More impact plays are needed. But just like Cam his main role is to make stops at the LOS and play underneath zone. If you noticed the times he gets beat its when hes asked to play deep. Hes not that type of safety. Cam isnt too great at deep coverage either. We show less advertisements to registered users. I would be alright with Cyp struggling in coverage if he made more impact plays in the run game or in the underneath game. How about you lay someone out sometime. Force a fumble. Make people fear going over the middle like they fear running at Chancellor.

from ESPN:
last week's game: Help needed: Jaguars coach Gus Bradley confirmed that cornerback Dwayne Gratz was supposed to have safety help on T.Y. Hilton’s 73-yard touchdown catch. Johnathan Cyprien bit on an underneath route and got pulled up into the middle of the field. Hilton was so wide open because Gratz, thinking he was getting help from Cyprien, let him go by. “We were in Cover 2 and the safety bit a little bit,” Bradley said. “He [Hilton] got an outside release, which puts a strain on it [the coverage], but the safety’s got to stay back.” 2 weeks ago: On first-and-10 from the Dallas 32, Romo hit Bryant down the right sideline. Bryant caught the ball at the Jacksonville 36. Gratz, who had slipped while contesting Bryant’s release, made a diving grab at the 34, but Bryant broke free. Cyprien, who was on the other side of the field, raced over and finally made contact with Bryant at the 10 -- and Bryant carried him into the end zone. "I took a bad angle, and instead of just trying to get him out of bounds, I reached for him," Cyprien said. "I missed him, and that can't happen." It did again, this time on Joseph Randle’s 60-yard touchdown run. Cyprien took another bad angle and failed to bring down Randle at the 18-yard line. McCray tried to tackle Randle up high at the 5 and fell off. That's just me looking for 2 mintues and this is what's being written about our defense. Cyprien is a liability. Even against the Bengals he was terrible and was partially responsible for that long TD from their rookie RB. That's 3 straight games where he's a liability. You can spin it however you want, but he needs to get a lot better. Just listening to Cyprien after the Dallas game will tell you how he realizes he's been bad.

Quote:How many fumbles do you expect the guy to force? Fumbles are a pretty arbitrary stat. Well he has 75 tackles already. I'm not expecting 10 FFs.... but at this point maybe a couple would be nice. Show me you can do more than tackle someone.

Quote:Damn he's only in his second year people. not sure if sarcastic - but what will we say next year? Damn, he's only in his 3rd year! Wait until he's 30!

Kam Chancellor averages just about 100 tackles a season and basically forces one fumble every season. I just don't think thats a stat that you can demand of a player reliably. http://www.nfl.com/player/kamchancellor/494257/profile |
