I think what Detroit really needs to make Stan's team is a stretch 4. Stan love to have a big in the middle surrounded by 3 point shooters.

If he's going with that model Id guess both are gone. Iono of any good stretch fours he could get though.

Quote:Magic fans, do you think Van Gundy will be able to turn Detroit into a competitor in a couple years? He's modeling this team after his Howard-era Magic with a player who projects to be very much like Howard.

Get rid of Josh Smith is a start.

Jennings is clearly not a starter in this league, personally I would like to see Augustine fill that role, much like Alson in Orlando, not expected to score much but run the offense efficiently and get timely buckets.

Did anyone see the end to the Kings Grizzles game. Lee makes an alley oop 5 years too late.

Followed the game on my phone, but good win for the Magic.

Miami is 7-6 and Orlando is 6-9 while missing some key players.  Orlando being within five games is entirely possible.

1. Sure, it's possible. I don't think it's likely, though.

2. Miami is 8-6, not 7-6, and has been battling key injuries, too.

3. Is this something you wanted to drop or keep following? I let it go because it seemed like you backed off it. If you want, we can still do some sort of bet on it.

1.  It's entirely possible.  The Magic may not be an amazing team, but they are playing better than anyone thought they would.

2.  Apologies, I was a day behind on their record.

3.  Why shouldn't we follow it?  You brought it up and I think its an interesting story line.  Regardless of your bet or not....I said it and you brought it back up.  So lets follow it.

Miami's two key players have been playing.  Dwayne Wade is just under 20 points a game.  Lets look at averages, we know he isn't going to play out the whole year.  Can they keep up their place with him gone?

Wade has not been playing. He's missed 6 straight games and we still don't know when he will return.

Point proven anyway.

Close win for the Magic last night....had a good lead and almost squandered it.

The fact that Wade has already missed 30% of the season is more indicative of who he is.  Over the past 3 years, he's only averaged playing 55 games per season.  I was hoping he'd be able to string out a full season but this Miami team is pretty much what it's going to be throughout the season --- perhaps they will get slightly worse if Wade's health continues to deteriorate.

Injuries not an excuse either way.

I brought up injuries because Josh did.

Never thought he'd get a full year but I think they will be fine even if he misses more games. Mcroberts is gonna be a big piece when he's fully healthy with his passing. Super underrated aspect of his game.

Honestly just glad wade didn't get a huge long term deal. Was really nervous after bron left that he'd get some stupid deal.

You're right...I was dumb enough to believe Wade would be playing 12 games into the season.  Should have done my homework.

Miami is even worse this year on perimeter defense.

Napier is the one who should be starting due to his offense, but their PG play on defense is atrocious.

This team is making Spolstra look overrated.
