Quote:every dog has their day.

Alabama has given up 55th most yards per game. I guess a couple of dogs had their day.

defensive

312 ypg but 16.9 ppg - alabama

371 ypg and 22 ppg - fsu

offensive would be...

489 ypg and 36.7 ppg - bama

430 ypg and 34.6 ppg - fsu

and yet alabama is still better offensively and defensively than FSU.

No clue about the rankings? I know Alabama is #1 because SEC > Pacific 12, so the playoff committee thinks Oregon's conference wins are less impressive. That can be perceived as SEC bias because Marcus Mariota > Blake Sims. However  the only way to know which team should be #1 now is put them on the same field. You can also say this about Texas Christian and Ohio State. If they don't meet In New Orleans, we will never know which one should be #3. Florida State should or could have lost to Notre Dame, Boston College, and Florida. Because the Seminoles barely beat several unranked teams, they have no business being in the top four. They only get the benefit of being undefeated natiional champs.

Quote:for the first two weeks i said i think ole miss is the best team in the country, ever since then i have said that i think bama is the best around. once things clicked for blake sims it was pretty much over.

i understand they have holes but they are still dominant. if arkansas played ole miss again and again and again, i think the majority would be close games. of course there is always the off game by one team while the other team is firing on all cylinders. so im sure that fsu COULD wind up beating bama. but if they played 10 times, i would say bama would win 9, at least.
Bama's defense can be scored on....the auburn game proved that. FSU faced the most athletic DB's they will face this year in UF. If Bama and FSU play it will be a close game is my prediction that will be decided in the 4th quarter. Bama is no world beater.

They are picking the best teams right now - not when Baylor beat TCU.

And when did undefeated become more important than strength of schedule? If undefeated were so important we'll only see more teams schedule Florida Deaf and Blind, and we see enough of that already.
Yep they are clueless morons, and people with common sense are geniuses.

I thought the whole point of rankings was to go by wins and losses. If SOS was more important im pretty sure all of the SEC would be in the playoff rankings then.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Or more like Alabama can be exposed in some areas.

If wins and losses were the point then Marshall would have been in top 4 for a long time.

It's a factor but not the point

Bama would definitely be favored in the game. I'm just stating that Jameis can definitely have success against their secondary. That is bamas weakness. Their run d is stout. If we are basing things solely on stats, those stats would not lead me to believe Noles would get crushed by bama or lose at least 9 out of 10 games.

If Marshall had a defending heisman and won the national title year before then yeah, wins would be a huge factor.

One team plays in the sec. One team plays in the acc.

FSU - 47th

Alabama - 95th

Granted, there are others that have them much higher.  As you know, you can make stats say what you want.  But what I did find interesting was their opponents combined record of 71-79.

But the point you made has nothing to do with the rationale posed.

Understood.  I was just making a comment.  Didn't we talk about your seriousness level already?

If you don't think that Alabama has played a much more difficult schedule than FSU, then there is no point in further discussing it.

if FSU had played WV, they'd be saying how wonderful their OOC schedule is

I'm saying their schedule hasn't been THAT difficult.  I'm putting things in perspective.  More difficult yes.  Much more difficult?  No.  They also struggled in a lot of their games as well.

More difficult even with Bamas cupcakes. All serious levels on.

Agreed.  It is more difficult.  But I think we sometimes get lost in the names.  LSU isn't that great of a team this year.  florida is obviously down.  Texas A&M hasn't been that good.  WVU is 7-5.  Mississippi State and Ole Miss were their two toughest games.  I don't think it is that crazy to say bama has not had that tough of a schedule.
