I go back and forth with Cardale Jones being the starter. He obviously has talent. And with so little film on him, Bama wont know what his weaknesses are. Could play in Ohio St's favor. But on the otherhand, he is so young and inexperienced.  And if Ohio St gets in a tough game, or falls behind, no one knows how he will respond.  

It's easy to play well when you are winning and your defense is completely dominating the opponent.

 

Alabama has more film of Cardale Jones than Virginia Tech had of J.T. Barrett. Jones played during garbage time in blowouts before being pressed into service against the Wolverines. But Wisconsin was the only good team Jones played against. The Tide may not learn much by watching him play with backup linemen, receivers, and running backs. BTW he is a sophomore, the same grade academically as Barrett.

 

The Buckeyes did a great job stopping a Heisman Trophy finalist (70 yards on 26 carries) last week. Now they must try to shut down another one. The question is will they be ready for Amari Cooper? A big key for Ohio State will be pressuring Blake Sims. If the defensive line can make him throw the ball away or an errant pass, I will be a happy Buckeyes fan because that means Cooper can't get it.

I wish I could share that optimism. This is not going to be easy. I would rather play against Florida State than Alabama. But this certainly could be the hardest game all year for Alabama, the only SEC team with fewer than two losses IIRC.

Before seeing the Wisconsin game I would have said Bama would dominate them, but after that game I can see this being a close game. Amari Cooper may be the X factor, but OSU has a good chance to pull off the upset if they bring that defense from the Wisconsin game. Winning like that with your 3rd string QB also speaks volumes. It will be a great game to watch.

Wisconsin was unranked at one point this season. I was surprised the Badgers never scored, but they can't be compared to the best team in the nation.

My opinion is that Bama isn't the best team and is interchangeable between the 4 teams. Alabama is no world beater and can be beat with good defense and a competent offense. Of course bama could just as easily blow them out too lol, but I just feel it's gonna be a close game and both teams could pull this one out. Should be a great watch I can't wait.

None of the defenses in the top 4 have a dominant defense.  I just dont see anyone stopping them.  They have to be worried about their running game because of their two big backs, and when they come up to stop the run they get hit over the top with Cooper.  There's not a defense in this final four that I see keeping them under 30.

This isn't about tin foil hats, it's about common sense.  They're likely going to move to 8 sooner than later.  The four team model was just a way of putting the playoff system into place.  Now that it's there, they'll tweak it to get it "right."  Five major conference champions + four team playoff = someone always misses the dance.  Expansion is inevitable, it's only a question of time and how much money gets behind making the switch sooner than later.

Of course you have to look at the flip side of that - Alabama stopping Ohio State. Who has the edge there?

I was not surprised at all. If you've been following this thing all season they have always said that conference championships were going to play a big part of it, and TCU and Baylor don't have the brand that the final four do. Wether you think OSU is actually one of the four best teams or not, I thought it was obvious they were going to get in.
