Stand United

Quote:I made some post on Facebook (something to the affect that this rebuild isn't for weak fans, stand behind your team, putting things in perspective...).  Anyways, one of my fellow Jag friends told me who flew out to Oakland for last Sundays game, headed to Seattle for this weeks game, headed back to Jax for home game and going to London for 49ers game.  That is hardcore!
That is some serious dough he's throwing around too... If i had that money, i would be right there with him

Quote:I was totally sold on Bridgewater but may be waivering a big right now due to his lack of running.  Andrew freaking Luck even ran for 255 yards last year and now has 76 yards this season while our QBs (Henne & Gabbert) lack instinct and think they are the next coming of Payton Manning and could not run to save their own life !!!!   Bridgewater and Aaron Murray have zero rushing yards whereas Tajh Boyd is multi-dimensional.   I'll be watching Boyd very closely vs FSU and South Carolina ....

The Indy demise and subsequent Luck pick still kills me !!!
The problem with looking at a running QB is that is not what Caldwell covets. He comes from a stand in the pocket passer mentality. Why do you think he cut Scott and added Stanzi. Unless he changes is perception of Manning and Ryan type QBs i dont think he will draft a Kapernick or RG3 type QB.

Isn't that the purpose of this season?

The first two games have certainly been a test for most, and the frustrations we all feel are only natural. But, a time will come when this team is on the upswing, and success returns. These challenging times will make it all that much sweeter.

Patience is going to be required, but I continue to remain optimistic we have the right people in place to address the years of abuse this team has been subjected to. It won't be a quick fix, but most things worth having take time to develop.

It's not a pretty picture right now, but it will get better.

The sweet isn't sweet unless had the bitter.  Very true.  We have had our share of bitter.

Even though I get really angry with this team, I will never bail.  If I was the kind of fan that did that, I would have left a long time ago.

Even though he wasn't his coach, he was on the same team with Russell Wilson last year, how could he not draft an athletic QB like Boyd -- given that Bridgewater is not available -- when this team is in dire need of a QB?

It's not about being athletic or not, it's about talent.  RG3, Kaep, Wilson and Luck are generally considered the four top elites young talent right now.  Bradford and Stafford were former first overall picks and are strictly pocket passers, but no GM would pick those two over Kaepernick.

Remember the good ole days when fans wanted Leftwich over Garrard because Garrard could run? That was great!

Quote:Depends on what QB they draft in the 2nd. Clowney + Morris would be huge for this franchise.
Morris is garbage man..Really.

Would you give up rounds 2-7 this year plus next years #1 to have both top draft spots this year and take Bridgewater and Clowney?

People are seeing something in Morris that I just don't see.  He's a late round project, nothing more.

"It" being a wig and a dress?  Probably.

It's amusing how some folks latch on to a single QB tighter than to their mother's milk and decide there's no other option.

It kind of is.  Getting the #1 pick is one of the only positives apart from maybe some of the young players getting better... but that should happen any season.

I also like Boyd for the record.

Is this how you are going to start the new message board?  Right out the gate with the silly insults?  Bridgewater is a legit prospect.

I don't know where this myth perpetrated from that Andrew Luck can't run...I remember them pointing out prior to the draft that he was indeed a great athlete and had several really long runs at Stanford.

Plus, if you watched Bridgewater over the last several years, he doesn't run because he's so good with his arm.....but this isn't a Leftwich clone, he most certainly has the ability to run for the first down (quite nimbly actually) when he has to.

Quote:Wasn't Ryan Leaf's problem his work ethic?

If we draft another QB that turns out to be a dud, this Franchise will be in even bigger trouble than they are now. So I'm not sure what's funny about that.

Yes it was. Plus he was a headcase. Think Johnny Maziel.

Bridgewater is the anti-Leaf. Great talent, great football smarts, and great work ethic.

Actually that is a good example. As good as Luck has been, can you say for sure he has been better than Russell Wilson and RGIII?

Better? as of right now? Probably not....however, its not a case of because Luck has underachieved or anything....Those 2 QB, especially Russell simply outperformed what many people expected from them out of the gate.

I'm fairly confident though, when all is said and done, Luck will have the best career of all 3 and it probably won't be all that close.

Him and Wilson are on the same level.  RG3 is now a little behind after the injury.
