Steve Smith on Mike & Mike: "you're going to hear some good things about the Jacksonville Jaguars"

Quote:I feel hopeful about Aaron Colvin though he did make a couple rookie mistakes, he's also made a couple of great plays in the few games he's played since being injured.  I'm on the fence about McCray he hasnt had an INT nor as many PDs as one would hope especially considering how good the Dline has been this year at getting pressure and stopping the run.  Given the chances I wouldve liked to see McCray prove himself more this year along with Gratz.

Honestly hoping for a CB in the 1st round.

i liken it to giving props to the little sisters of the blind

remember when Polian said at the beginning of the year that we would be a threat for the playoffs?

what do you think about that?

Only that's not Steve Smith's M.O. It never has been and it likely never will be at this point.

So you didn't listen to it? That's all you have to say. It's O.K. we already know.

the trend ive began to notice is that most of the compliments heading our way generally come from offensive players.... which isnt very surprising considering the improvement our defense has seen over the last year... we have gone from a team with a non existent pass rush and terribad secondary, to a defense that leads the league in sacks and manages to hold a horrific offense in games longer than any D should have to.... when you look at it that way, the complements seem more genuine and well deserved.

Come on now, lets dialogue.

What do you think about Polian's comments from the beginning of the season?

Correct.

What was it the texans DB said before facing us? That he was licking his chops to pad his stats?

Has any team ever really came out and just said "yeah that team sucked so [BLEEP] bad, easy win, easy life."

I couldn't care less what Steve Smith says, if anything I think it's a defamation of GB we clearly have better talent than our record suggests and it's his job to squeeze that Into wins.

The point is, this player in particular is not known for giving canned responses to the media under any circumstance. As a result, he just wouldn't have said anything. The fact that he said what he said, as a result, is being taken in a positive context.

LOL - already on page 6. Says something about this group of posters, doesn't it?

Someone posts information showing a player - who is not known to be Mr Warmth or Mr Positive - saying something positive about the Jaguars and then gets 6 pages of responses mainly saying that we should ignore it, that they know better.

Talk about childish.

Some folks seem to get really upset when anything positive is said.

Spot on.

Everyone has their own opinion, but Steve Smith has been playing in the NFL for almost 15 years.

Let's accept the compliment and move on. Time will tell if he was correct.

From the looks of these posts.... No one can compliment the team or complain about it.

He already is in my opinion. I can't wait to see everything fall into place this year. If he can trade down, watch out. Like whoa.

Quote: “A lot of times, from a fan’s perspective, especially with fantasy football, they look at just a team’s record and sometimes, a record may not indicate what’s really going on. They had a few veteran players [on defense] ... and the rest were either two years [in the NFL] or rookies. They had a lot of great, young talent, but as you know when you have great, young talent, it takes a little bit [of time] sometimes.

“They were a tough bunch. Even though their record may not indicate they [aren’t] very good, they had a lot of will and fight. They just wouldn’t go away. They wouldn’t quit. We understood that and we watched a lot of film on them and we knew they would be tough. Some people would say we had an ugly win, but at the end of the day, those guys have families and have pride and honor amongst their teammates and their organization.

Also on a semi related topic, this was from Gus Bradley's presser yesterday:

Quote:There's gonna be talk about how 'Hey Jacksonville played extremely hard, very physical, came into our house and did some really good things, special teams wise two phases did really good' but I told them we're not into moral victories," Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said on Sunday after the game. "We're into victories. We're into victories. That's what we're after."
