If you want to be a college football fan in the 21st century you better be able to look the other way; you better be able to check your ethics at the door; you better to able to follow the money; and you better not care what happens to these "students" after their usefulness is over.

 

I watch (and occasionally attend) and enjoy college football - but I'm not silly enough to think it's more than Triple-A ball for the NFL, with side benefits of some history and tradition. And like the NFL, 90% of the participants are decent and normal. But quite a few don't care. Just win - or we fire the coach.

 

More than 90% are decent and moral.  Much like all other parts and life.  It's a few bad apples that spoil the bunch.

 

As far as leaving your morals at the door for college football, its still "amateur" athletes and I believe it should stay that way.  No, they are not semi pro football players.  Technically, the scholarship system hasn't changed much since 40 or 50 years ago.

He has been cleared of any wrong doing by multiple parties but you dont care about justice, this is a witch hunt for you and its sad. I believe if Jesus himself came down and said he was innocent you would still think he did it. The hate is strong in this one.

 

I have clearly pointed out on this message board that I dislike Jameis Winston.  That darn media has clearly clouded my mind...I haven't read both side of the rape story, have I?  All those other stories of him being an idiot are a complete fabrication?  I'm such a sheep that I haven't been able to make my own mind up on Jameis?

The problem here is that you have a lot of people here who have given into the media hype and your hatred for an in state rival. There is no point giving you facts because you don't want to hear them. Last I checked he served his suspensions for both the theft and vulgar comments, yet many of you act as if he was never punished and got away with it. How much should an athlete be punished for these crimes?? Should he be suspended indefinitely for petty theft? Not allowed to declare for the draft because of a vulgar phrase? Some of you simply dont deal in reality and allow your emotions to guide you.

 

So this is going to be the next step for FSU fans for people that dont like Jameis?  It's now going to be a witch hunt and the media has clearly made people side one way or the other.

 

He served his punishment, does that mean I have to think he's an upstanding citizen?  No.  Registered sex offenders go to jail and get out after time served, does that mean I have to look past at what they did because of time served (let me clarify because I know FSU fans will jump on this.  I am in no way comparing him to a sex offender, its just a point.)

 

People are smart enough to make up their own minds.

I need to stay away from this thread because it really is frustrating to go back and forth in it.  I'm a hater that has a witch hunt going on because of the media, except FSU fans dont see the fact that they are blind homers that only support him because he's the Heisman championship national champion quarterback for their team.

I've said Jameis is an idiot.  He's done some bad things.  I don't want him stealing from me, nor do I want him playing with BB guns outside my house.  

 

But you make a big leap after that and say that you dislike him so much that you wouldn't even want to watch the Jags anymore if we drafted him.

 

Look - I know you lived a perfect life and never committed any petty crimes whatsoever.  You probably have never even ran a stop sign or never had 2-3 beers and then drove home.  Your moral compass is just way too superior.

 

If your point is that I wouldn't like Jameis shooting BBs at my house or stealing my shoes for example, you'd be right.  But you're making a point that nobody disagrees with.

The school I went to, they would of kicked him out, no question.

And in Trav's case, it is 100% true. The school he went to would have kicked him out, but I'm not sure where you got the being in jail part...

I can assure you my son would be suspended for more than a couple meaningless baseball games.  What Jameis got was a slap on the wrist from the baseball coaches, and it allowed the football coaches off scott free.
