Jedd Fisch Fired!

#61

I hate to admit this, but the people who said Gus is in over his head are right. This feels like a desperate attempt at fixing an offense before the coach loses his job.

I'll be honest. If we don't win 7 games next year I think Gus is a goner.

I'm pretty ticked we let our rookie QB get the hell beaten out of him for an OC they would fire at the season's end. Oh well, I guess they had to find out if it was a good match or not.

It's not desperate.  It's the right decision to bring in another coach to put their own signature on things.  They take the things they learned while Fisch was here and move forward with a better offense.

Would like to hear the reactions from everybody who wanted to keep him....

never saw it coming and honestly feel a little sorry for fisch

don't believe we ever saw what he could do but two years of offense at the bottom of the league sealed his fate

I hope it placate people and gives them more faith in the process... Definitely shows accounability

only worry is bortles having to learn a whole new system which means all that season prep thread won't happen

man oh man.

gus will drop the HAMMER!
To me it appears Gus is running around like a chicken with his head cut off. 2015 is huge for him, especially if Dave jumps in to FA.

This. I think he and Caldwell are 8-8 or unemployed.

If anything this proves his head is screwed on straight

I think Caldwell and Bradley admitted their mistakes for the first time.

Caldwell in that he should have brought in more experience on offense.

And Gus in that he should have brought in an experienced OC.

Both can be fixed.

It's not as big of a deal as people make it out to be.  The concepts are generally similar when it comes to passing the ball.  It's just a matter of reading defense and making the right call and throw at the right time... which does not come about just by knowing a playbook.

Gus owns this team. Any coach that can get this team to go out and play as hard as they played while losing almost every game and not giving up. and keeping them fired up the whole season, is one helluva Coach.

Plus the ice cream doesnt hurt

There's a reason why Dead Fish has been "One and Done" with the majority of the teams he's coached..

Nor did I. A bit surprised for sure.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I can't blame the guy for everything.  I'm good with putting Trestman in though.  Would make for a good upgrade.

For hiring a bunch of coaches with little to no experience to begin with, especially with him being defensive-minded.

Caldwell's comment that Gus ultimately controls the staff sounded like he's started to prepare himself to be distanced from Gus in the event things don't go well next season.

If Dave has another solid draft and a few decent free agent signings but the team still blows, I can see Caldwell staying and Gus going.

Quote:Continuity just for the sake of continuity? Dumb.

His offense was terrible. A lot of people have been saying it all along.

Time for some people to eat some crow.
To be clear, it isn't/wasn't just for continuity's sake.

It's primarily to help the young players develop.  My thing is if players know the playbook and are comfortable, that's more time they can spend honing their craft, knowing how to attack coverages, etc.  It would give them a frame of reference from which to attack defenses.

But now a lot of their offseason time will be spent learning a new offense.

It is my deepest hope the new offense will be easy for the players to learn and one in which they can be insanely successful.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!
