Jedd Fisch Fired!

Quote:My whole family are Bear's fans. When I asked them about Trestman they say away from the guy. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. The guy will lead you nowhere. I don't pay much attention to the Bear's these days but my general perception is that the Bear's really struggled offensively. Maybe he's one of those guys who would do better as an OC than a head coach (ala Jack Del Rio), I dunno. I'm just saying. Everybody saw the disaster in CHI this season. Trestman as a coordinator did well before, so ya maybe he would bounce back in that role. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I'd keep him as the WRs coach simply because he's so good at that. Becoming an offensive coordinator would mean that he's going to be focusing much more on game planning and less on the young wide receivers. Anyways he's been an offensive coordinator in Arizona and in his three seasons his offenses finished 20th, 29th, and 32nd.Who was their QB?
Quote:Who was their QB? Actually I just checked and he was the WRs coach for the first two and only became OC for that final season, thanks for the wrong info Wikipedia! They had a combination Jeff Blake and Josh McCown for his lone season where they went 32nd.
Quote:There is about a 0.0000002% chance they promote Jerry SullivanI would say 0%. Gus and Dave have somebody in mind I'm sure We show less advertisements to registered users. He was just one piece of that equation. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:never said he wasn't a problem. I still think there were multiple issues that hamstrung the offense. He was just one piece of that equation. ^^^This. There are some people here who think that it's always easy to fix something just by changing "x". Just start Bortles in the game and everything will be fine. Just change the OC and everything will be fixed. Just draft player "A" and everything will be peaches and cream. Just change [whatever] and we'll be in the Superbowl. It's hardly ever that easy. People that have watched the game for a long time understand that problems and their resolutions are usually more complicated then changing any one specific factor.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

I think the advantage of Bortles learning an offense now as opposed to last year is that he isn't being drafted in May and if we can get a coordinator in by January, he'll have 5 months to learn the offense before we pick our newest Jaguars. Plus, he's adjusted to the speed of the defense now (or at least better than week 3).

Looked up Trestman's record as an OC in the NFL. It was very impressive.
"Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Hopefully this move will lead to less shots of Gus on the sideline mouth ajar wondering, "What was that play!l
A good loser is a good loser
I want someone who:

Quote:I certainly can't argue the offense was productive under Fisch. My whole point in keeping him on was continuity for Bortles, Lee, et al.Continuity doesn't mean jack when you're losing games. These guys are professionals and don't need to be spoon fed. Whatever offense is brought in is what they need to learn. Put on those big boy pants and earn that money. I think most of the time, but not always, a lot of rookie and second year players struggle because their game is played with talent. They got to the NFL because they were the best of their position. In the NFL talent alone doesn't cut it, you have to work your [BLEEP] off. Manziel being a good example. He's been given everything his whole life and it shows. He doesn't know how to work for anything because he's never had to. In the Jaguars case it wasn't just Bortles or just Lee or just any other player, it was the whole offense and it was the play calling which meant Jedd. There were a few players who individually don't bring anything to the table IMO. Lewis and Shorts being the two that come to mind straight away. We show less advertisements to registered users. Well the brighter side to the story is that if Fisch wasn't going to make a difference in the future its good we got rid of him now because its was only blakes first year. If Blake was still trying to work with Fisch it could be a disaster and leading to Bortles being nothing but a back up. At least now we have hope we find a OC with a LOT of nfl experience and developing QBs. Trestman is at the top of my list.
Be interesting to see what the Nancy's complain about next.

There is a god.
If we get trestman I'll be ecstatic. I thought that was a pipe dream but it sounds like it could happen. This would be tremendous for bortles.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
