Bama - Ohio St

Two different announcing teams.   Apparently, the first set of announcers thought it was significant, the second set didn't.  That's all it was.

Is anyone but me thinking Cardale Jones is a prototypical pro quarterback?   I think he might have a future in pro football.

Are you serious? During the first quarter I kept thinking the Buckeyes missed J.T. Barrett. I was surprised when I saw his statistics later on.

During the BTCG, I began to wonder if Barrett was just a beneficiary of talent around him and Urban Meyer's system because Jones did not look like a first-time starter.

I think Jones looks like an NFL QB type. Big, moves well, and on a few throws last night, he looked super accurate with alot of zip on it.

He looks better than Barrett to me.

I am not ready to say he is better than Barrett after only two starts, but Jones certainly is good enough to challenge Oregon's defense. There will probably be a quarterback competition during spring practices at Ohio State.

I'm not going to crown him after 1 bowl win.

I won't either, but you have to admit he was not bad in his first two starts.

He looks pretty good, but it helps when there isn't much game film on him.

So you don't think Cardale Jones would look good as the regular starter if Urban Meyer had chosen him over J.T. Barrett?

That's silly. Looks like there will be no SEC trash talk this year. Urban Meyer is a great coach that just beat the best the SEC had with a third string QB.
I went to bed at halftime of this game. I did make mention of FSU doing it, but feel the exact same way about the Bama players.

Not terribly classy.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Yeah, I screwed the pooch on that one. Wallbash

They still suck to me though, and will lose to the Ducks.

I'm not crowning him, and I'm not talking about his ability to win.   I'm talking about his build, his arm strength, and his apparent ability to withstand pressure.   Most inexperienced QBs would shrivel up after throwing a pick-6 to put their team way behind in a big game.   He stood in there, withstood the pass rush, kept finding his receivers, and started throw accurate passes down the field.   He's a big, tall, pocket passer with a great arm and plenty of courage.   That's a prototypical pro quarterback.

I think he's got loads of potential and if I were he, I would make sure I got enough playing time to maximize that potential, whether at Ohio State or somewhere else.
