Teddy Bridgewater

Quote:Maybe.

I guess it depends on what someone means by big things.

Chad Pennington had a lot of success in spite of his shortcomings, but he certainly wasn't elite.

Teddy at least has the benefit of a first class coordinator, it'll be interesting to see how far he can go.

Pennington was a very very successful QB in the NFL until multiple injuries to his throwing arm/shoulder further weakened what was already an average arm. I think Teddy has a stronger arm than Chad anyway (even before the injuries)

Because it's a thread by a former poster on here who is a Teddy lover and is now trying to show you how smart he is.

Too bad you're too slow to see it.

You still on Christmas break? I guess school starts again Monday. You can impress your junior high buddies about how tough you are - lol cursing on an anonymous message board. Sad.

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

Ya, don't get the Pennington deal with posters. He was a very good QB to do what he did with that arm, very under rated.

And I think he also registered as a pretend random Vikings fan to copy and paste some statistics.

i think its because most remember him from his later years in NY and definitely with the Dolphins, when he was the poster child for "noodle " arm" QBs

I can't speak for anyone else, but I mention him because he's a classic example of the high floor low ceiling kind of player that might be tempting to teams but who ultimately wouldn't get their team over the hump.

He's an ideal kind of backup because he had the mind for it, just not the physical prowess.

Maybe Bridgewater does better than I think he will, but I've always thought of him as an Andy Dalton type. You bring him in because he's "pro ready" and you spend years confused as to whether he can get you over the hump because he's having some level of success. It's likely that he never will.

Pennington was starter material 100%.

Teddy and Dalton in the group together, no surprise there. Exactly what most of us thought

So there's room for improvement.

I had to laugh at what they listed for the tacks QB, I guess they have no starting QB.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

At least the Jags aren't last. I remember the year with Gabbert and Henne, the jags weren't even in the list of 32.

Except Teddy is a rookie and i challenge someone to say Teddy is in anywhere near as good a situation as Dalton.

Jeremy Hill and AJ Green break that alone. Then add in a good bengals defense, Gresham,Sanu and Hawkins when healthy and its a plus for Bridgewater that he is considered in that tier already.

Dalton is the same qb he was as a rookie, which you will probably be able to say the same in a few years about Teddy. Plus Min. D is probably better Cin. Not to mention Teddy gets to work with Nov Turner. So yeah, I would say Teddy situation is just as good or better than Dalton

Contrary to what you think, Teddy is far from a finished product. He'll get stronger in the NFL's strength program. He's got some mechanical issues (especially with the deep ball) that he needs to fix. Just because he was more ready to step and play right away doesn't mean this is as good as he's going to get. He's just a few months younger than Bortles.

On paper, I think most would say Dalton was in a good situation. But this year has been tougher for him, with the injuries to Green/Jones. Their defense isn't as stout as in years past either. But even with that, I'd give the edge to Dalton with Sanu, Bernard and Hill and an overall better OL than what Bridgewater had. I laugh when I see people message Ozone and talk about Greg Jennings. LoL...Greg Jennings hasn't been relevant in at least two years. At least.

But mostly, Dalton is a 4 year pro whereas TB is a rookie.

Of the rookies, I'd say Blake dealt with the most difficult situation (too much youth around him, questionable OC), followed by Carr, then Bridgewater. All three however, had less than ideal situations for which they were asked to step into.

Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota Vikings

Bridgewater, a University of Louisville product was selected 32nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, finished the season with the third highest completion percentage for a rookie in NFL history (64.4), behind Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger (66.4 in 2004) and Washington's Robert Griffin III (65.7 in 2012). He ended the season with 2,919 yards, 14 touchdowns in 13 games. Bridgewater was nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week four times, winning the award two times.

Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Minnesota Vikings

After a typically slow start to his rookie season, Bridgewater showed great improvement in the second half, finishing at +11.0 over his last five games to lead all NFL quarterbacks. Perhaps it’s an arbitrary timeframe, but for a rookie quarterback, it’s an encouraging sign of improvement after the typical early-season growing pains.

Bridgewater did his best work at the intermediate level where he graded at +13.3 while sprinkling in a few deep passes to the tune of a 46.3 percent accuracy percentage that ranked 10th in the league. Perhaps most impressive was his league-leading 75.2 percent accuracy percentage under pressure, though his -1.9 grade when pressured is probably a better indicator of his performance in those situations. Regardless, a low negative grade under pressure is actually pretty good when compared to the rest of the league.

Despite throwing 12 interceptions, Bridgewater was one of the league’s best at protecting the football. Rather than look at interception totals, we like to focus on the actual throws that he made rather than the results, and when looking through that lens, Bridgewater was among the league’s best at avoiding “turnover-worthy plays,” ranking among the likes of Alex Smith, Tom Brady, and Ben Roethlisberger. Combine that with the improvement he showed as the season progressed and Vikings fans have to encouraged by Bridgewater’s future.
