Draft A Running Back?

Quote:I think it's hilarious how everyone is all "I'd be okay if we drafted a guy that became the next LeVeon Bell or Demarco Murray." Oh is that right? You'd be okay if we drafted somebody who's better than everyone else at their position in the NFL? And in such a nonchalant manner no less. NO KIDDING. In that case, I'd be okay if we drafted a guy that became the next Joe Montana or Bruce Smith. And I gues it'd be cool if Gus Bradley became Bill Walsh, but whatevs. I think the point is alot of people say you don't have to draft a running back early but the best ones in the league were picked in the first three rounds.
The best friend for any QB is a running game. I like shoelace, but he seems like more of a 3rd down RB and not the bellcow.
I have been advocating the selection of Tevin Coleman - Inidiana - who is said to be another DeMarco Murray. I think the run on RBs will come in Rd 2. T.J. Yeldon is going to fall in this draft, he and Langford (Mich St) may be there in Rd 3. If the Jags are going to draft a RB, they might as well take a Franchise RB in Rd 2 than an average one in the later rounds The Jags Oline is going to improve, but the Jags running game will not without more talent. It is possible that Melvin Gordon, Tevin Coleman and Todd Gurley will all fall to Pick 36 in Rd 2. All three I would consider to be Franchise RBs like Fred Taylor and MJD. Doesn't Blake deserve a MoJo or FreddieT to help him out?
We don't need to spend draft picks or big money on a RB, IMO. Denard showed great improvement in his 2nd year, and I expect his development to continue with the hard work he has displayed since coming into the league. He has speed, toughness, and good hands. He has prototype skills in today's league. The fact that Dave explicitly stated that a '#1' RB isn't a high priority, leaves me to believe that he is happy going into 2015 with D-Rob/Toby/Todman/Storm as his RB-by-committtee.
Yes draft a RB
This is a deep RB draft, we need to find a stud to go with Robinson

No thanks, not unless someone like Cobb makes it to the 5th or 6th round. Denard, Toby, and Todman are ok.

Denard is good.
Toby is a waste of space. I'd be for bringing inn Gordon, Gurley, and Langford. Blake needs help so get him help. Toby isn't scaring anyone. Quote:No thanks, not unless someone like Cobb makes it to the 5th or 6th round. Denard, Toby, and Todman are ok.lol no they are not, Denard needs another good back with him, Toby is meh, and Todman is just a guy, stop overrating our players from a terrible offense Just because a few teams found late round gems at RB doesnt mean you wait to find them, yes drafting a RB in the 1st may not be great idea anymore, but you still can find special RBs in the 1st and 2nd. Look at the last few years where the top young RBs were drafted, Hill, Mason, Bell, Lacey

I'd wait until the third rounds for a RB. Draft is full of good RB's. I like Melvin Gordan a lot, but not sure if the Jags need a RB that badly.

I am surprised more people don't think this team is in desperate need of a workhorse back. I would have no problem taking one in the second or third round. I think Robinson showed something and could be a nice change of pace back. But Gerhart added next to nothing when given a chance. Some good backs have been second round picks the last two years. Eddie Lacy, Leveon Bell, Jeremy Hill.

We don't need bother Storm Johnson, but if we can get someone outstanding, then it's worth the upgrade. But, as I have said before, we need to think about getting someone with a running style which compliments DRob. Someone who can plough through the centre, breaking tackles. We already have our speedy back in Robinson. Having said all that, it sounds as if the team is going to stick with what we have.
DRob is your classic 3rd down RB. DRob could play the slot WR. There are lots of things that DRob can do, but it requires that the Jags pick their shots in terms where they play DRob. 10 to 12 plays a game and DRob can be a real difference maker.
Tevin Coleman faced 8 man fronts on every play in the Big Ten without the benefit of a quality QB and he still gained 2000 yards. Gordon is fast, Coleman is almost as fast. Coleman should be there at Pick 36, I am not so sure that Gordon will be. Taking Gurley at 36 would be risky because how long will it take for Gurley to be ready to handle the full workload. So if Gordon, Gurley or Coleman are there at Pick 36, then the Jags got to seriously think about pulling the trigger on their Franchise RB. We show less advertisements to registered users. I probably wouldn't take a rb at pick 36, as we could address another need there. However, if we trade down in the first, I'd be all over taking a RB. That said if a RB impresses them a lot, then sure, go for it.
If they wait until the 5th round or so to take one - I'm thinking one of these guys:
Langford: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-JAF5PREa8 Williams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnaRCN6Vd_U Maybe Terrance Magee in the sixth round. (Obviously if one of the higher rated guys falls big time - and is their highest rated player in the third round - I'm all for that pick)
David Johnson from Northern Iowa could be another option in the mid-late rounds.
