Jags request interview with Bill Callahan for OC

Quote:Its hard to use MJD as an example. After 2011 he held out came in fat then got injured half way through the season. his poor production could not be soley on the fact hi had 400 touches. would be more on the fact he held out and came in out of shape.

Other examples include Larry Johnson, Sean Alexander, and Jamaal Lewis.

Yeah, it's a combination of total carries, age, previous injuries, etc.

Simply saying "well he had like 400 touches last year" isn't saying much.

Curtis Martin used to have close to 400 touches year after year and was pretty much always consistent until age caught up to him.

If Peyton Manning retires as Denver's QB why not hire him as the OC?

Agreed.  He also had previous seasons with a lot of touches, something Murray does not have due to getting hurt.  I think he's got a couple good seasons left.

I'd also say that the reasons he got hurt early on was because of his running style.  The dude tries to punish the tackler instead of just going with the tackle.

Yup.  Alexander fell off the face of the earth the year after setting the TD record.  Then LT broke his record the next year.

So your theory is that since he got hurt early in his career then had one great year (where he got hurt again) after 400+ touches, he should be durable for a couple more seasons?

No thanks on Murray!

He was just an example.  There have been other backs where the same thing has happened.

No part of Callahan please unless it's to be the OL coach. Definitely not the OC.

Hoping for Dennison.

Dennison as OC and Callahan as oline coach that is my dream.

I actually like the mix of guys they're looking at right now, and I don't think that list is quite complete.  They're looking at experienced coordinators and guys who are on the rise.  They're taking a very thoughtful and deliberate approach in finding the right guy for this team, and I think that's all we as fans can ask for.  In the end, we'll hopefully wind up with the right guy instead of just getting the first guy.

I would honestly feel pretty confident with Callahan or Linehan calling the shots offensively. They have plenty of NFL experience. Have seen ups and downs as being former headcoaches. And obviously what they did collectively this year in Dallas was pivotal and it's even more obvious that Jason Garret benefited the most from them.

More deep thought.  Hope you didn't strain anything.

Apparently Dallas has not as yet given the Jags permission to talk to Callahan, but today ENDS the 3 Day Coach LOCK-DOWN period.

Dallas will allow this to happen and probably expects Callahan to walk.

If we get Callahan I wonder if it would help sway Demarco Murray to come here in FA

Callahan doesn't seem like a Bradley type of guy.

Ed Werner of ESPN says that Bill Callahan will not re-sign with the Cowboys before he has an opportunity to talk with a number of teams that have expressed interest in talking to him about employment.

Please see other thread of fact - all interviewees are shying away.  They hate money and promotions, so nothing to see here.
