Shane Ray is the perfect LEO

#1

I think he is better than Randy Gregory who was getting all the initial hype a couple months ago and by the time the combine and prodays end he will be a top 5 pick. The guy is a speed demon and consistently beat his man off the edge. Sometimes he didn't look human on the field when watching tape he flies so fast past lineman, a lot of the time they didn't even have time to react. He also does a really good job of locating the ball and snuffing out the run and is relentless in his pursuit. Uses his hands well and has a nice swim move to get past lineman. He's not the strongest, but his sheer speed and instincts allows him to live in the backfield. He'd be the perfect fit coming off the edge as a LEO for us.

Agree, I just hope the Titans don't take him

Can't argue against selecting Shane Ray.

I'd rather them take him than Williams, Ray or Gregory would be fine with me if Williams isn't there at #3. IMO, Gregory seems to have the upside while Ray is the better player right now.

Ray is much better in pass rush but not as solid against the run. Neither does he have the prototypical LEO measurables. However, given that Ray, Gregory, and Williams are all blue chip players and we are guaranteed the choice between one of them, we're in a good spot.

What makes you say this?  Ray is 6'3" 245, Gregory is a bit taller but other than that, the extra few inches would do nothing but benefit.

Ray is the most explosive edge rusher in this draft by far.  They just need to work in his technique a bit as he has a tendency to get blocked easily if he can't beat his man with speed.  If they can do that, he's the perfect LEO in my mind.  I don't really care if he can't play well against the run.  That's not his assignment.

Branch is or never was as quick as Ray coming off the edge.  Not even close.

not nearly as athletic or strong.

I think I'm going to have this post framed.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
