Here is the roster Gus and Company will have their hands on at the Senior Bowl

Here is an interesting piece Mayock did on David Johnson, Northern Iowa running back on the south squad.

A good review of the South defense

Quote:Lynden Trail is one of my favorite players in the draft. Good size, super athletic, productive player. Played stand up backer in college.
He could have a boost in his draft stock similar to what Cyprien did a couple of years ago.

Quote:I noticed Brett Hundley skipped out of on the Senior Bowl. Big mistake I believe. It laughable now to think AJ McCarron did the same thing last year. Some of these kids get terrible advice.
Geno Smith too, no doubt it hurt him when EJ Manuel was selected first.  It probably really helped Carr too, who knows AJ might've been a high 2nd day pick too.

Unless you're a top 10 lock, I don't see why a QB would pass on this game. IMO, the agents are just too paranoid about a possible injury while at the same time over estimating their draft stock.

I don't like this trend of top players staying out of the senior bowl. On the other hand, how much money did Colvin lose by getting injured there?

I think the amount of guys getting serious injuries like that are rare.

The reward outweighs the risk I believe.

For unknown/late round guys sure. Is Cameron Erving going to fall out of the top two rounds by not playing though?

And there's not that much room to move up.

It's hard to say, declining not to play could've dropped him anyway, but a good week in Mobile could've elevated him to the 1st round. I can understand more if a skill position player or even a lineman or LB don't want to risk injury, especially if they played in a major conference.

QBs come off like they're trying to hide something if they decline. Coaches want to see how they can mentally handle what they're teaching them and translate to the practice field. QBs are also much less exposed so the risk of a major injury is even less likely. QB is not a position where you want to lack confidence.

He would be better off going to Mobile

I can understand the injury concern. It is less than a month before the combine, so most injuries would not be completely healed in time for that. But players have to know what the benefits are of playing at the Senior Bowl before skipping out.

Aaron Colvin did not "lose" anything except the ability to play in our first 11 games.

Why don't players go to Mobile for interviews even if they decide not to play in the game?

Great Question. Answer; Yes.

Nick O'Leary is a good possibility.

Austin Shepherd

Tre' Jackson

Daryl Williams

Denzel Perryman

Clayton Geathers

Based on Daniel Jeremiah's first mock, Perryman would be a second round target. But he probably will shoot up the draft boards and be long gone before #36.

Go look where Aaron Colvin was projected before his injury and then look at where he got drafted by the Jaguars.  He lost a lot.

You just make these statements without understanding at all....

@MissJagsFanatic

Because of the injury Colvin went from a probable second round selection or somewhat likely first round selection to a fourth round selection. The difference in contract there is . . . quite significant. :::must resist using old nickname:::
