1st Rd. Pick(s)

#1

Who you got?

Bridgewater > Clowney > Barr > Matthews

QB > LEO > OL

Any other players or positions are unacceptable (unless Mariota shows his skill at Stanford & bowl game)

Trade Shorts & use extra pick on Mike Evans as replacement.

He is a projected top 10 pick. How exactly do you see this happening?

He's projected that high?? Wow.

This is why some people suggesting we trade JB for a 1st to get Evans makes absolutely zero sense.

Evans is making manziel look way too good. So good that manziel will likely fool a team into drafting him high. Of course evans couldn't be taken in the 2nd round. My only issue with evans is he is no speed like blackmon. We need speed.

That also makes zero sense because you're basically trading for a similarly productive player.

I liked the Evans over Shorts idea because Evans gives you a dynamic that Shorts does not and in the end I think Evans will be better than Shorts. I don't see Evans having a better career than Blackmon.

Shorts is a #2 receiver on the right team. Evans is a #1 receiver IMO. The thought of Evans and Blackmon and Sanders and a speed slot guy with TB makes me happy.

Evans is way too slow to EVER be a #1 downfield receiver. So get that out of your head. At best, He is blackmon or Bolden 2.0

Disagree. Boldin runs like a 4.7 and is a clear #1 receiver. Being a #1 receiver isn't all about speed. Knowing how to use your body to compensate for not being able to get open all the time is a big part of it too.

I'm fine with what we have.

I don't think Evans is a #1.

Blackmon is a #1. AJ Green is a #1, Julio Jones is a #1, Dez is a #1....

Evans is a solid complimentary piece and great red zone weapon, but I don't see him as an effective WR1 in the pro's. He'll need a good WR on the opposite side. He's otherwise going to struggle to gain separation at the next level. He's not sudden or overly quick. Long strider, too.

I can agree with some of that. If he is there in the 2nd, I still don't think we should take a WR in this draft, unless they have a high grade on him and he happens to fall into our lap.

Way to many areas of concern on the roster to draft the only area we are actually decent in.

There is a big difference between the designation "Best receiver on a team" and the "#1 reciever on the team". The #1 receiver is a downfield WR or the "Z receiver".

Z receiver's require speed and include Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, AJ Green, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Branden MArshell, Julio Jones, Andre Johnson, Vincent Jackson, etc. Notice anything about these guys? They were all drafted VERY high in their respective drafts. And for a reason.

X receiver's are outside runners that have decent speed and cutting ability. Y receivers are your typical slots such as Welker.

So, would Heyward-Bey be W receiver? A hybrid of Z receiver who runs a 4.3 but can't catch, and was drafted 7th?

Z receiver's can be drafted high but still suck. The Z receiver designation is just a label/type not a testimate to how good you are.

Z receiver's we've had in the past that failed - Tiquan Underwood, John Broussard. (Matt Jones and Reggie Williams were both X's)

And to further explain our roster:

Cecil Shorts - Y

Justin Blackmon - X

Mike Brown - Y

Ace Sanders - Y

S. Burton - X

S. Williams - X

Notice the lack of a certain type?

Only thing we lack is height. A WR doesnt have to fill that role, Im hoping Ebron somehow falls to the 2nd but i doubt it.

No way do we get a pick high enough to draft Evans.  He will probably go top 10, and what is this grudge you have against Shorts?  He should of broke 1000 yds last year and on pace for over 1000 this year and doesn't make much money and probably the best locker room and team guy we have.  I don't get your hate for Shorts.

... assuming Gene Smith gets a GM job in the offseason, this could happen !!!
