Jags Hire Greg Olson as OC

Quote:Olson is not a OC in the NFL, hes a great QB Coach. Gase could of brought some of what he learned from Manning and used it on Blake. Gase wants a HC job, this would of been a great place for him to earn it after re building this O. Heck if Gus is fired next season, maybe we will see Gase on our sidelines?
I'm willing to see how this thing plays out. Carr had 7 tds and 3 picks in his last 6 games and won 3 of those games.

I think it goes one of two ways... It's either really good or really bad. I doubt it's somewhere in the middle.

These fan base melt downs are hilarious.

Well 5-11 would actually be an improvement...

How much of an NFL coaches success is related to his players? 85% 90%?

Willing to give Olson the benefit of doubt as I don't remember any of his former teams being particularly talented.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I mean, he did make Josh Freeman and Marc Bulger look like a stud QB. If it doesn't work out, well, it is same ol' Jaguars and we will be hiring a new HC next year and drafting new QB again.

Gus did not rush to judgment in hiring Marrone and Olson, in fact he took his sweet time in making these selections.

What Gus and the Jags got was the best that was AVAILABLE in the mind of Gus Bradley.

Lastly, remember the old saying, PLAYERS NOT COACHES WIN FOOTBALL GAMES!

We have all been accustomed to a DISFUNCTIONAL FRONT OFFICE that did not KNOW how to selection talent to fill a roster.

So if the TALENT is not there then the TALENT will not be evident on the field and in terms of Wins and Losses.

I believe that Dave Caldwell KNOWS how to identify TALENT and I believe that Gus Bradley KNOWS how to develop DEFENSIVE Football Players.

Gus brought in a TEAM of OFFENSIVE MINDED GUYS to help in the area he is lacking.

In Doug Marrone, the Jags have a TOUGH GUY that will help the Jags to JUMP-START a RUNNING GAME and help establish PASS PROTECTION for Blake Bortles.

In Greg Olson, the Jags got their QB Guru, whose JOB is to DEVELOP Blake Bortles into a Franchise QB.

So Marrone's job compliments Olson's job and together their JOB is to DEVELOP an OFFENSE comparable to the JOB that GUS has done with the Jags DEFENSE.

All these two gentlemen have to do is to DEVELOP an OFFENSE that can score points in the 20's and the Jags can will 7 to 9 games next season.

The Jags DEFENSE will keep them in most games, but the OFFENSE has to score points, which means Blake Bortles needs to throw touchdowns, cut down on turnovers and handoff to a Running Game that is tailored to compliment his passing game.

So AGAIN... R-E-L-A-X

HELP IS ON THE WAY because the NEXT PHASE of the PROCESS involves SECURING MORE TALENT in FREE AGENCY and the DRAFT.

I totally agree with that.

In my opinion, there are lots of good coaches out there, and if Greg Olson had been the offensive coordinator for Denver instead of Adam Gase, everyone would be clamoring for Greg Olson.   Because ANYONE would look successful with the players Denver has on offense.

This is the hire that'll cost Gus his job.

I agree with this. It will be good enough to continue building on or bad enough to clean house.

Who is the miracle worker that will guarantee come in here and get this team to the superbowl? Somebody tell me.

I'll wait...

Answer: Nobody. Because nothing is guaranteed. You cant predict the future so why over react because we didnt hire "your guy", or the guy the media thought we were going to hire?

The "fans" on this message board truely sucks. Id rather wait at least 5 games in to pass a bit of judgement on dude. Geesh.

Is John Fox a coward?  How about Bill Belichick?  Belichick left Jets before he even got to his office.  You dont know why Marrone left and he was being praised for the great job he did in Buffalo before he opted out.

Quote:Wait, so is Olson definitely the OC? I'm behind the times.
Nothing has been confirmed yet.  Everyone is still using the JLC report as the basis for this.  That's good enough to start the bashing for some folks.

Personally, I don't know enough about the guy to say if it's a good hire or not.  What I do know is that he wasn't exactly calling plays for the Broncos or Packers out there in Oakland.  He certainly managed to make Carr look like a legitimate QB.  No, the rankings aren't where people would like, but there's this pesky thing called context that has to be applied here.  If he is the new OC, it's okay to withhold judgment until he actually calls a single play here, don't ya think?

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
