Quote:Wait, I thought Olson was the Raiders QB coach. If he was the OC, then this is a lateral move? I was under the impression he was only working with the Raider's QBs. Oakland was a very bad offensive team as a whole with their only bright spot in their QB. If he was responsible for the whole offense...oh god.

Well, they were pretty young across the board. Similar situation to us.

As for the lateral hire, new coach = new staff I guess.

I guess the good thing is that Olson likely won't be gone in 2016 after landing a HC gig. I'm only half kidding when I say that. I don't think it would be good for Bortles to learn his 3rd system in 3 years.

Here the big thing though: in the end, if Olson can help Bortles become a really good starting QB, his hire will be deemed a huge success. He did some good things with Derek Carr, so there's hope.

Only a matter of time before they start telling us how good Chad Henne was in practice and how they are going with him over Bortles...

I personally won't mind the hire at all if it turns out to be true. If you think about it he does run a vertical offense and likes to stretch the field. That's something that should be at our advantage considering our WR talent and our young gunslinger QB who showed the ability to stretch the field in preseason.

Why should we want Gase? He's had like 5 or 6 different interviews and he's still unemployed. That should be a huge red flag. He's either a terrible interviewee or he really was the puppet in Denver and it was Peyton's offense. Not only that but he has hardly any experience as an OC sans this year. I thought we all wanted someone with experience calling the shots? We would have that with both Olson and Marrone working in tandem.

For those of you who hate this hire and think we settled because Gase and others rejected the job, where have any of the other candidates been hired? Don't you think there's a reason a handful of teams have passed on Adam Gase?

You realize how little talent he had in Oakland right?

Quote:First of all. Gase isnt coming. I think we know that for sure. Secondly. It doesnt matter cause this fansbase will just find something else to complain about.
Exactly.  There is a segment of the population on this board that is predisposed to complain about anything the team does.  Quite a few of them have already chimed in here.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I think what's becoming pretty clear about Gase is that he was only as good as Peyton Manning allowed him to be.  Since it's pretty common knowledge that Manning calls the plays when he's on the field. any success Gase has seen could evaporate instantly with a QB like, say, Jay Cutler.

This is true, there are reports he had the 49's job in the bag until his last interview with them. And the way the ravens signed trestman right after interviewing Gase i thought it was because he had already takent he job here now it seems it could have been so bad an interview they went with the proven trestman. We will know somthing is up if Fox passes on him too.

Quote:How do you know any team has passed on Gaze? Perhaps he turned them down.

It's more likely he wasn't offered the job since that seems to be a trend for Gase. He's getting a lot of interviews followed by someone else being hired for the jobs for which he was interviewed.

Maybe he is admitting to them in interviews that Manning was calling the plays and not him. :teehee:

Quote:Guys,

Im just as deflated or disappointed as you guys are but seriously - some of you are being downright stupid, use your head and think about what your saying before you type and let the whole world read at there own disposal.

Fact

Blaine Gabbert throws his best statistical season  under Olsen

Fact

Derek Carr had a surprising rookie season statistically under Olsen

Fact

He's coached 8 years as an offensive coordinator and EVERYTEAM sucked!

That's just a few to chew on, Guys - Relax and give the guy a chance, or just go bandwagon and cheer for another team...Enough said

8 years as an OC and " EVERYTEAM" sucked.

Not something I'd put on a resume. Much less chew on.

Quote:Not sure... Looking at Olson, he's a guy that's always been on bad teams. So I understand not having great rankings - but I think he's going to a bad team again so what exactly is going to be different this time around?
what is different? Isn't different yet.

Bortles must improve

oline must improve

new players must be brought in who produce.
