I keep hearing that in order for the Eagles to move up and take Mariota, they are going to have to give up the farm.

 

This is all based upon the Jimmy Johnson trade chart where

 

No. 3 = 2200 points

 

No. 20 = 850 points

No. 52 = 380 points

No. 84 = 170 points

 

Total = 1400 points

 

All this means is that the Eagles could give up their top 3 picks and that would not seem to be enough to make the deal fair to the Jags (much less the Titans)

 

So maybe the Eagles throw in their Rd 1 and Rd 2 picks in 2016.

 

Now a 2016 Rd 1 pick = a 2015 Rd 2 pick and a 2016 Rd 2 = a 2105 Rd 3

 

so adding these two picks creates 550 points added to the 1400 points = 1950 points

 

Bottom line is that Eagles are giving up 5 Top 100 players for 1 Top 3 Player.

 

When you look at 5:1 in anything, you usually take the deal.

 

It seems logical that the Jags would take the 5:1 deal and if the Jags would, then the Titans probably would too.

 

Now the question arises, whether the Jets, Bears or Rams want to play?

 

Who knows, maybe the Browns want to get in on the action too.

 

Accordingly it seems to me, that if the Titans really don't want the QB, then the lure of Trade Booty will be too much to pass up.

Another possibility (which is more likely than dropping to #20) is trading with the quarterback-needy Jets. By only dropping three spots instead of 17, we can still get an elite player with our first round pick.

Nobody knows if the Eagles are willing to trade the farm yet. NIck Foles currently is not in danger of losing his job in Philadelphia.

 

If the Eagles are willing to give a team two first round picks, two second round picks, and a third round pick to move up, they could try to trade with us, but I doubt we would accept the offer.

If Tampa passes on Mariota for Winston and Tennessee goes for the best available pass rusher should Caldwell take a trade down deal?

 

 

Absolutely. I want your 20th overall pick, your 52nd overall pick, your 110th pick in this year's draft along with your 1st round and 3rd round pick in 2016's draft for the 3rd overall pick though.

 

Mariota to the Eagles makes sense because he's already familiar with Kelly's offense and he may not be an elite QB in the NFL on any other team simply for the fact that he won't be playing on a no-huddle fast paced offense anywhere but Philadelphia. He's a system QB. And he fits Kelly's system like a glove.

I agree ..... and think the maximum potential that Mariotta will achieve is comparable to Kaepernick, at best.

Only way I can see this happening is:

 

1) Team A picking in the 8-13 range really likes Foles.

 

2) Eagles trade Foles, their 1st rounder, and probably a 3rd day or future pick to trade with Team A into that 8-13 range.

 

3) Eagles trade the 8-13 pick, a 2016 1st, their 2015 2nd, and maybe a few more picks for Jags/Titans/Raiders top 4 pick.

 

The key to all of this is finding that team that really loves Foles. Otherwise the gap in value is just too big to be realistically bridged between #3 overall and #20.

This is an interesting subject and likely one that will dominate pre-draft headlines. Which QB does TB take? Does Tennesee take one? If Tennesee doesn't believe in Mariota, They would be beyond brainless to NOT trade the eagles for a treasure trove of picks.


If Tennesee fails and Mariota falls to 3, Christmas comes early for caldwell.

Tenn likes Mettenberger a lot. They won't get Mariota.


It's either Best pass rusher or trade down


Mariota also isn't worth a top 5 pick

Personally, I'd give up my #3 pick in exchange with any NON PLAYOFF TEAM for their 1st and 2nd round pick + their 2016 1st round pick.  Heck, I'd probably do 2015 1st and 2nd + 2nd round pick in 2016.
