Blackmon back for 2015?

It sounds like we should hear something within 5 weeks from now  - considering that's Blackmon's window to apply for reinstatement.

Hopefully we hear that he has applied.  Goodell will have 60 days from that point to decide.  So - it's likely we'll know something definite on actual reinstatement by May.

That's not his actual window to be reinstated, that's just his window to be reinstated before the draft.

Technically, his window to apply for reinstatement began 60 days prior to the one year anniversary of his last suspension. I think he didn't bothered to apply because of the likely rejection at that time due to it only being about 4 months after his arrest and the stipulation in the policy that says he must be abstinent for a 12 month period prior to reinstatement.

I have a feeling his real window to apply will be about 60 days before his pot arrest anniversary.

Correct.

My thinking (and probably Caldwell/DiRocco's here) was that DC wants to know if he's making the effort to apply before the draft as it may have impact on some decision making in Chicago.

Yes, he could apply later, but if he has any interest in his GM making informed decisions during the draft, he should do it sooner.

We need him.  He was turning the corner as a pro and then the bottom fell out.  Like being sucker punched multiple times...  You start to flinch when someone gives you a high five.

The time frame may not be to his discretion. Him and his agent may have been given indications from the league that it would be a waste of time at this point.

Quote:I'm not living on "dreams and false hopes."  I think the team is handling this the right way.  They've moved on.  If he comes back, they're treating it like a luxury.  If he comes back and fails again, it has less of an impact now than it would have a year or two ago.  If he comes back and succeeds, and lives up to his potential, the Jags win.  Simple as that.

I know some of you "holier than thou" scholars here on these forums think he should have been dumped long ago.  You can conclave with your fellow puritans at FBC downtown on Wednesday.

Better yet, if he comes back and he does live up to expectations, don't cheer for him or the team.
I've been pretty busy for quite some time and don't know what has been happening with JB. What is his status as far as recovery and the NFL? Is there any links or articles anyone can direct me towards. Thanks in advance, just curious..

Well he has a point. If anyone is expecting JB to come back after taking virtually 2 years off and pick up like nothing has happened is fooling themselves. IF he comes back he'll get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot. Nothing more, nothing less.

Agreed.  It's going to take Blackmon time to get back to where he was, if he's even able to do so.  But, IF he IS able to get back to form, he's no #4 on this team.

I am excited about merely the prospect of having Justin Blackmon back in Teal and Black.

Has the 2014 marijuana arrest been resolved yet?  I can't see the league reinstating him while that charge is still pending.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.
