Would love to hear his name called by the Jags!

Quote:In the last mock draft on SI, they have him going top 20. First or second tight end?
Shows good hands. thrives off play action, which most TEs do. Can we make teams respect the run game to really utilize his talent? Regardless, he is a great receiving TE and would make a good security blanket for Blake. Only way i see us getting him is if we trade down in the first and use the extra picks to move back up into the first to snag him. He's about the only player aside from Funces that i think we should trade back into the first for. How good is he at run blocking. Seems like we can't find a "complete" TE. Thought we had one in Lewis. Stone hands just isn't that reliable in passing game. Amazing run blocker though

Lewis isn't even amazing as a run blocker.

Just speculating, but if we could somehow trade back with Philly, we could land him at pick number twenty.

He would be an awesome addition to the offense. If we trade down, even if it was around pick 12, I would consider drafting him then. The guy already looks like a combination of Witten and Gronk (not saying he will be as good as them).
Shock the world
If you look at the options after pick 10, youre realistically getting one of the second tier of OLinesmen, (Flowers etc), a cornerback or maybe Melvin Gordon. Most of the top pass rushers and the best tackles will be gone by then.
In that sort of trade-down scenario I'd definitely want one of the top tier of tight ends. And MW seems to fall in that bracket. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I think the option is there to trade back one or two spots (Oakland or Washington) and pickup a second and maybe a third/fourth, then trade back again with someone like Cleveland and pick up one additional first round choice giving us the 12 and 19 picks. I think you can get Williams at those spots, and a top tier lineman as well. We need dominating positional players.
I would be avery happy fan if he was there in the 2nd and the Jags grabbed him

Quote:Lewis isn't even amazing as a run blocker. Not at all, he hasn't been an effecitve blocker in a couple of years, he's one of the worst TE's in the league as he offers nothing in the pass game.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I highly doubt David Caldwell will spend a second round pick on an offensive linemen, I expect the Jaguars to shore up the offensive in early in FA with proven vets.

Quote:If he is the best tight end, expect him to be drafted in Round 1. 2011 and 2012 didn't have a TE drafted in the first round. It happens. It's probably more likely he's gone by round 2, but I wouldn't be surprised either way. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Don't forget about Devin Funchess - he may be drafted as a TE ahead of Williams, so that may push him back a few spots.
I got a good look at him when Iowa went against Minnesota, he certainly is impressive.
Isn't Funchess being projected and moving forward as a WR? |
