Quote:Mobile QBs last just fine. Scramblers and run-first QBs don't. Manziel is a scrambler.

I don't really get the problem with scrambling.  Several quarterbacks benefit greatly from their scrambling ability.  It's just hard to be really good at it.

For some reaosn when people say "mobile quarterback," a lot of fans think that always means a guy like Tim Tebow who runs whenever he seesx a hole and his intended receiver is covered. That is a bad thing because he needs to look at all of his receivers before deciding to run with it. If you understand "mobile quarterback" can also just mean "scrambler,"  there is no problem.

I say we just forfiet our games next year.  Each game is a 1-0 loss.   We save the season ticket holders money and defer the payment plans until 2015.  With the 2014 pick, we select Winston.

Quote:I know what I am talking about. The NFL has been trying hard to make the game safer for years, so mobile quarterbacks should play longer now than Steve Young did. The fact they don't means a lot of defenders refuse to change their ways. Anyone who thinks the NFL's #1 priority is not to make the game less physical is clueless.

Quarterbacks in general are going to get hit more than ever before as they throw more passes each and every year. The NFL can't do anything to prevent broken bones or torn ligaments.

Now you are making a case for running quarterbacks. If throwing is a greater risk than running, why are we having this argument?

I think what we need to do is look at what injuries are caused by throwing, what injuries are caused by running, and the frequency of each. That should settle it.

Every time I see one of your posts it hurts my head. Seriously. What is so hard to understand?

Why would you want a mobile QB? Why? Mariota is not a scrambler. He is a running Quarterback. Mariota's lack of a football mind forces him to have to run the ball. He has less arm talent then Mettenberger. The only thing that impresses you dips is that he's fast. Hurts my head to no extent. Jesus.

I can't imagine how miserable living just one day in your shoes must be.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I love my life. I live in one of the best cities in America with my soon to be engaged girlfriend. We're now thinking about buying a house together. And I'm only 20. How miserable.

Just because you have next to no football knowledge and can't understand simple concepts it doesn't mean I'm miserable. I just have common sense.

Anyone who feels the need to insult and denigrate people on the level that you do is miserable, that's just the way it is. You have no happiness inside of you, so you have no happiness to give. You have bitterness and disdain inside of you, so that's what you do give.

I'm sorry brother, but I'll take my not being 20 years old and not having a fiancee and my non football knowledge but being able to spread around a little joy, encouragement, and positive vibe over having to act like a jerk any day of the week.

like I said, I like Bridgewater. I just also like Manziel and Clowney and I think it would be worth a shot. Either way I'm happy. But I'm sorry to get your panties in a wad with my thoughts. What do they mean anyway right?
I like Manziel as well but if you have a chance to take the best qb then you gotta take him. I'd rather draft Bridgewater and trade back up and take a chance on another DE than doing it the other way around. You only get so many picks so it more about making them count than trying to maneuver all over the place. We have a lot of holes to fix but its just gonna take time and more than 2 off seasons to fix

No Tommy, you didn't hurt my feelings. I'm not going to allow you to do that. What bothers me though is that you don't care that you may have hurt someone's feelings. You have no regard for other people other than scorn. Again, you're miserable and it shows. I would never want to be like you.

now now this is the part in sitcoms where you just tear at eachother with carnal abandon fueled by your hatred

stop swinging your manhood  because you can always find a bigger one on the internet and just hug it out and move on.

that being said 20 and looking for a house one of you is making bank, i've been living with my missus for 8 months in a tiny room which is driving us both mental and we couldn't even dream of getting on the property ladder,

as for the thread, i think there is a lot of confusion between running and mobile qbs, russel wilson to me is mobile, rg3 or tebow is running.

I want a russel wilson style who moves with the first though of buying time and relocating the pocket, second though through the gap to save the play and get a few yards.

i think running qbs can work the problems being most of them are great on the ground but not as good with their arm hence why they are defined as running qbs because the big threat is their legs.

To me mariota is a running qb. Those feet are magic, that arm can be magic, so can tebow's when he gets it right but it is too inconsistent. Mariota misses a good number of open guys over 15 yards

When that happens is a big upside and a big downside

the big upside is it's another play to your arsenal and one that can completely disorientate but it relies on your normal run game. The reason kapernick spanked us was we were so badly dominated up front we have to commit totally to shut down the run game and the one time we preempted it geno hayes got beat on the read. If we could have man handled the niner oline or got some penetration you can start using a qb spy or a linebacker to shut off the read option, we didn't have the talent up front to do that or the speed at linebacker (but with kap not many teams do)

The other upside even if you don't use it the team has to prepare as if you will which increases the amount they have to gameplan for.

the downside increased possibility of injury, though i'm not saying either is more likely as a running qb you will get hit more, so there is a higher percentage by law of averages. With the importance of the qb that is a huge worry.

I think bridgewater is a mobile qb, he can scramble but he is pass first. I think we need that

You obviously have no reading comprehension, Tommy. I already stated very clearly "mobile quarterback" can just mean "a player who is able and willing to run out of the pocket when he needs to." I don't know why that is so hard to understand. Also, I am not talking about Marcus Mariota. What made you think I was?

If you can't stop criticizing every one of my posts, I have to ignore you. I put the word "woman" in my username because I know enough about football for some posters to think I was a man years ago.

You have no idea who I am, what I do, how I feel, or how I act. Just because I'm more critical than most on a message board it doesn't mean I'm miserable. And, wrong. I do have regard for people. But, one thing I do NOT have regard for is people spouting off wrong information as fact. THAT, is what I have no regard for.

It may have been in another thread where you were talking about Mariota, my apologies.

I don't know why you felt the need to say that you put woman in your name because you know a lot about football. You being a woman has nothing to do with it. Actually, I applaud it. I wish there were MORE woman who knew football.

...

But that's not completely true. JW, in her earlier post, offered up a situation where injuries due to running, throwing, and their frequencies were examined. You responded by insulting her. None of what she said was non-factual. She wasn't trying to convince you, she was simply trying to dig into the process.

You got all bent out of shape and told her that when she expressed herself, it caused you pain. It must have caused so much pain that you lashed out at her and insulted her.

Miserable.
