Quote:According to the Central Bureau of Statistics the Dutch tomato yield in 2011 was 48 kilos per square meter. That's translates to about 4,46 pounds per square feet.

Uhhhhhhhhh.... how about in acres?

97 tons per acre. That seems really high to me... I'll have to ask my tomato buddy what they get for comparison.

That can't be right. That's way too low.

1 acre is 4046.86 square meters.

4046 x 48 = 194.208

194.208 kilos equals 428.155 pounds per acre.

I don't know what to say man, something is wrong there. It should be more like 50-70 tons per acre. There's no way a commercial farm is getting a few hundred lbs per acre.

You said 4.46 lbs per square foot.

43,560 square feet in an acre.

4.46 X 43,560 = 194,277 lbs per acre.

Or 97.138 tons per acre. That's really high yield but that's way more in line with what I'd expect.

My tomato buddy said they average around 60 tons per acre.

What kind of ton are you using? Because our tons are equal to 100000 kilos.

So that should be a comma instead of a period in the middle of that number?
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

You reverse our periods and commas. No wonder I'm confused. I use the ton that is 2,000lbs.

Joke of the day

Fresh from my shower, I stand in front of the mirror complaining to my husband that my breasts are too small. Instead of characteristically telling me it's not so, he uncharacteristically comes up with a suggestion.

"If you want your breasts to grow, then every day take a piece of toilet paper and rub it between them for a few seconds"

Willing to try anything, I fetched a piece of toilet paper and stood in front of the mirror, rubbing it between my breasts.

"How long will this take?" I asked.

"They will grow larger over a period of years," my husband replies.

I stopped.

"Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper between my breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?"

Without missing a beat he says: "Worked for your butt, didn't it?"

He's still alive, and with a great deal of therapy, he may even walk again although he will probably continue to take his meals through a straw.

Stepdaughter coming in from Pittsburgh tomorrow for the weekend. Not my favorite person in the world. Perhaps she'll be more tolerable, solo, without her husband and son around to [BLEEP] at.
