Gregory, Ray, Fowler?

We just went through this a few years ago with Tyson. A great 5 technique strongside end with better than expected production that had the ability to play 3 technique. More sacks, more tfls, better 40 time better, similar if not better agility skills and elite use of hands rushing the passer. By he played at cal not USC so no one was all over him, but in my view a similar prospect.

Leonard Williams will not be a pick guys up and throw them life changing force in the NFL and u don't build a defense around very I'd interior lineman. To pick him at three he better be Hercules and I don't see it I haven't seen it and I don't going to see it.

Can I be wrong? Yeah. But so can you.

We should not draft (insert player) because remember that time we drafted (insert player of same position).

Quote:So the #1 player on most people's board with drop in the top 10? Highly doubt that. Williams won't make it out the top 3.

Not impossible. Ask Teddy Bridgewater.

Having said that, I'm with you - he's going to go in the top three. And he will only fall to us if the top two picks are Mariota and Winston.

Quote:Fowler had a good but not great combine imo. The question I'm asking is do you guys really think he is worth the #3 pick???

He is obviously versatile has decent size and is talented but does he stand out in anyway??

At #3...I just don't know

What else did Fowler need to do? He ran a 4.6 at 260 pounds. And watch him play. He is relentless.

Williams is No. 1 for some: While the No. 1 overall pick is expected to be either Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota, many talent evaluators believe USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams is this draft’s top player. He might get passed over in favor of a potential franchise quarterback, but he is the top-graded player regardless of position on many boards. Williams, who measured in at 6 feet, 4⅝ inches and 302 pounds, had 80 tackles, three forced fumbles and seven sacks in 2014. Some teams believe he could find a home at defensive end or defensive tackle in a variety of situations and could easily be a starter in either a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme.

The argument for Williams: A former rugby player because he was too big to compete in Pop Warner football, Williams maintained his lofty status with workouts that included a 40-yard dash time of 4.97 seconds and an 8-foot, 10-inch broad jump. Scouts already had been impressed by watching Williams in action and getting reports that he is a reliable practice player. Asked at the combine why a team should pick him over a quarterback, Williams said, “I would say that, from the previous years, sometimes it’s like taking a chance when you take a quarterback. You never know what you’re going to get. I would say that I’m going to bring that disruption and ... get to the quarterback and get some sacks."

Quote:This reminds me of the 2010 draft. Brandon Graham, Derrick Morgan, and JPP were all graded similarly and all had their knocks. Fast forward to today and you can say only one has lived up to their draft status. Bradwell, do your homework on Gregory, Ray, Beasley, and Fowler.

Exactly.

They really, REALLY have their work cut out for them in deciding which of the 3-4 OLB pass rushers could successfully play LEO in our 4-3.

Because if they miss, they are likely to miss very badly.

3-4 ends rarely work at RDE in 4-3 schemes.

That's why I'm really hoping for a trade out if Williams isn't there.  Without him, all I see are landmines.

I keep seeing articles about Gregory lost weight for the combine and he can put the weight back on for the season, but to me thats a negative, what if he cant carry the weight well?

I'm more impressed by a guy like Beasley putting on a lot of weight and still tearing up the combine, and a guy like Fowler at over 260 lbs running a 4.6

Nail on the head, if you slim down you better fly.

Incidentally with beasley. Jeff lagheman talked about adding the right kind of wright and actually getting faster. I think he put on 15 pounds of rip and his lower body maintained or increased in explosion. In his case you have a guy who got pushed around at tubes on take showing he can carry a heavier frame.
