What happened with Alualu?

He's a below average starter but a above average back up.

He will be on the field for some team next year.

2015 is a player option in his contract.  He has not elected to take it.  Word is that Caldwell would like to sign him to a new deal.  I'd expect to hear something in the next week or so.

The Florida Times Union reports the Jaguars have "continued talks" with free agent DE Tyson Alualu.

If the Jags re-sign Alualu before free agency, it should be at a bargain price. The No. 10 overall pick of the 2010 draft, Alualu is Rotoworld's No. 33 interior lineman.

I think Alualu is worth 3.5 Mil/Yr for his contribution.

No way I think a rotation/ special teams player should be paid near what Roy Miller is being paid as a starter (a little more than $600,000 I believe) especially with the free agent/ draft rumors being said.

Roy Miller signed a 4 year deal for 16.25 Mil or a little more than 4 Mil per year.

Yea I know. Which would be around a $600k yearly increase from your proposed $3.5mil/yr.

Take in the fact of upcoming FA and the Draft, and the fact that Ziggy Hood started when Roy Miller was hurt, I don't think he should get $3.5mil/yr.

We merely disagree.

Probably not the first time nor the last.

3.5 mil? No way, I seen in some of your post that you would give him 4 mil. Every one of your mocks the contracts you would give these players are way over paid, looks like some of Genes contracts. 4 mil. a year for Alu is probably the wost.

Miller is much better than Alu

Agreed. If he is resigned, it should be for around $1.5mil a year. That's me being generous.

Has anyone looked at the market?

Who would you bring in to replace Alualu and for how much?

I have looked and I can't find his replacement.

Corey Peters is more of a 3 Tech.

McPhee is going to cost 10 Mil/Yr

So who do you sign to replace Alualu at a pricetag less than 3.5 Mil?

It's not about the money, it's about the return value. You would be replacing a defensive lineman that has a huge chance of being at the bottom of the depth chart. Who cares? You could seriously draft a rookie/ sign an older veteran for better production.

You know how this works. The "correct" (and I use that term loosely) answer is anyone but Alualu.
