5 Techs in The 2015 Draft
|
Bryant's clock is ticking. He may not be a Jag much beyond 2015 if at all. Alualu is either gone or ready to be upgraded.
Who are the candidates if Dave wants to find the guy to spell Bryant this year and take over for him at some point? Any of these guys make sense? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/playe...ston-smith http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/playe...edwards-jr http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/playe...rius-smith http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/playe...y-anderson We show less advertisements to registered users. Carl Davis - DE/DT - Iowa
(Potential Rd 2 pick if Leonard Williams not taken in Rd 1) Quote:Leonard Williams, for one. Yes. Didn't mention him as most seem to expect him to be gone. But, yes, Williams is the top prospect at the position. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Carl Davis - DE/DT - Iowa Seems to be projected as an inside guy by most analysts - but perhaps a possible candidate to play the 5 tech.
Just like John Oesher thinks that all OLBs that the Jags would have interest in must play the Leo position.
Xavier williams was the same height and weight as red if I remember correctly. He didn't get invited to the combine so there's no extensive measurements on him but he seems pretty quick on tape. Could be had anywhere between the 5th and 7th
I really am intrigued with Xavier Cooper of Washington State, another potential 5 Tech who played DT in college.

I was referring to Dane Brugler and Mayock - who are much more draft-centric than Oehser. Cooper is very intriguing. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/playe...ier-cooper
What I meant by the Oesher comment basically is that when people get in their mind that things are a certain way, then you can pretty much forget about changing their mind because it has already been set in their mind.
No two people see the world the same way and yet people continuously attempt to describe what they see to others under the assumption that we are all looking at the same thing in the same way. All this leads to massive confusion. Is there any wonder why the world is in such a mess? Understood. I didn't know who Carl Davis was before your post - so I definitely don't have an opinion about whether he can play 5 tech in the NFL or not. I've just found much of Brugler's analysis in the past to be pretty straightforward and I tend to like Mayock better than a few of his peers as well. So - yeah - I am influenced by their opinions on a player I haven't watched. I'll hold back on any assumptions however. Quote:I was referring to Dane Brugler and Mayock - who are much more draft-centric than Oehser. We don't need another tweener like Alualu. I think the 5 tech needs to be either heavier or have a taller frame than Alualu and Cooper. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:We don't need another tweener like Alualu. Besides Williams, who fits the bill in this draft to you? Quote:Besides Williams, who fits the bill in this draft to you?Preston Smith or Henry Anderson have more of the frame you want for your 5 tech. You want that length to affect the passing lanes against either a designed or a pressure induced roll out. Quote:I really am intrigued with Xavier Cooper of Washington State, another potential 5 Tech who played DT in college. The Lions brought in Xavier Cooper for a Pre-Draft visit today. This is a player who probably has a versatile skill set for the NFL level: http://www.detroitlions.com/news/lions-i...4afddd3075 http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/201...ton_1.html

Well, I haven't taken a poll or asked everyone personally... I just was estimating "most" based off of seeing many board members speculating he's be off the board. It's certainly possible he'll be there for the Jags should they want him.
Did a little further checking
Xavier Williams Ht 6-2 Wt 328 Arm length: 33.5 hand size 10+ Red Bryant Ht 6-4 Wt 323 Arm length 33.375 hand size 9inch I've wanted this kid for awhile, i really think he is the perfect fit to replace Red. Quote:Did a little further checkingCurrently projected as a 5th or 6th rounder. Would be good value there if he could spell Red right away. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/playe...r-williams |
