Quote:The Seattle-Bucs game is a "no lose situation" in terms of the Jags,,,,because if the Bucs win, that helps obviously, and if Seattle beats them, it ups Seattles record, ergo better opponents winning pct% for 1st pick tiebreaker purposes.... We can't lose..but only the buccs winning is a win as we've both played them. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Given that the Panthers beat the Vikings in week 6, I would say that nothing is wrong there. The Panthers were in 2nd place after the tiebreaking procedure. Carolina, Tampa, and New Orleans all three had records of 7-9. What looks wrong is having two NFC South teams on Minnesota's schedule. What is the tiebreaker for division rankings when three teams finish with the same record?
Quote:I'd almost root for the Falcons because of how terrible their record is right now. You can say that about every team with only two wins. Are you going to worry about them getting the first pick too or just the SOS for Minnesota and Tampa Bay? Quote:I'm not positive, but do they not count the game you played when counting Strength Of Schedule? Of course they do. What Seattle does will affect the Jaguars, Buccaneers, and Vikings.because of that. But remember all 16 Seahawks games matter. Quote:What looks wrong is having two NFC South teams on Minnesota's schedule. The Carolina Panthers are the only NFC South team the Minnesota Vikings will play this season: http://www.vikings.com/schedule/season-schedule.html

Quote:We can't lose..but only the buccs winning is a win as we've both played them. ah crap, thats right.....forgot we played them already.....I guess I just tried to erase that memory. :yucky: Quote:For some reason I got teams mixed up and thought the Falcons were on their schedule. Not a problem. For what it's worth, the entire NFC North plays the NFC South in 2014. I believe the Vikings will be the home team against the Falcons in that game. With the game being played outdoors. The Vikings will be playing at the University of Minnesota stadium in 2014 and 2015, while their new stadium is being built on the site of Mall of America Field.
Quote: Not a problem. Yeah, I heard about that. They have been trying to get a new stadium for years, but the state government was unwilling to pay until a blizzard imploded the roof.
Quote:What looks wrong is having two NFC South teams on Minnesota's schedule. Why do you keep bringing up Minnesota??? They already have one win. They are not a bigger threat than Tampa at the moment, Tampa has zero wins just like us. Bring up Minnesota when it actually matters, i.e. if we & Tampa both get a win. Sheesh..... ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Why do you keep bringing up Minnesota? I already explained why: Tampa Bay has nine more chances to win a game, which is possible with the Bills on their schedule, so both teams can finish 1-15. Quote:I already explained why: Tampa Bay has nine more chances to win a game, which is possible with the Bills on their schedule, so both teams can finish 1-15. There are literally dozens of permutations of ways we could not get the first pick. But right now we're closest to the Bucs so that's where the focus is. Don't get me wrong…I hope we go 8-8..not kidding
Gene's Myth
Update: Tampa Bay lost again, as everyone expected, while Jacksonville was on a bye week. So we are now tied at 0-8 (the Buccaneers had their bye week earlier).
Also, Minnesota lost again as expected, so the Vikings still have only one win. For anyone who cares about two-win teams, the Falcons and Steelers lost. Quote:Yeah, I heard about that. They have been trying to get a new stadium for years, but the state government was unwilling to pay until a blizzard imploded the roof. Even after the 2010 blizzard that you mentioned, it wasn't until 2012 when the NFL league office and some NFL owners went to St. Paul to get the attention of the Minnesota State Government. Basically saying that if the Vikings don't get a new stadium, the team is likely going to leave Minnesota. It took a close vote in the Minnesota State Legislator to approve a new Stadium for the Vikings. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Update: Tampa Bay lost again, as everyone expected, while Jacksonville was on a bye week. So we are now tied at 0-8 (the Buccaneers had their bye week earlier). A slight correction. Tennessee had 3 wins before winning in St. Louis. They are closer to contending for the Division Title than they are for a top 3 pick. Minnesota was very competitive against Dallas today. If not for a late TD drive by Tony Romo and co., the Vikings would have at least gone to OT. Adrian Peterson performed at a high level in his game. Christian Ponder was noticeably better than he was vs. the Packers. The Vikings Defensive Line generated a pretty good pass rush in this game, especially with the Cowboys abandoning their running game. However, Ponder held on to the ball too long on a play that resulted in a 3rd QTR sack/ fumble recovery/ TD by the Cowboys. That score proved critical in the outcome of the game.
Quote:I was surprised. I fully expected a blowout by Dallas. The combination of Adrian Peterson being on the field, the Cowboys still feeling the affects of the Lions improbable comeback win last Sunday, and the Cowboys problems getting their running game going, all likely were factors in this game being closer than expected. DeMarco Murray returned to game action but was limited. Especially as the game went on. It will be interesting to see if the Vikings can build on their positives with the Redskins coming up Thursday Night. One potential obstacle for the Vikings is TE Kyle Rudolph suffered a foot injury on his TD reception in the 3rd QTR.

Quote:We can't lose, but only the Bucs winning is a win as we've both played them. You got your facts mixed up. Never mind the fact we also played against the Seahawks. What mattered when the Buccaneers were in Seattle was getting out of the driver's seat for the top pick. That is about not having the worst record in the NFL. If Tampa Bay had won that game, we would be alone at the top and watching the Buccaneers fight with the Vikings for #2.
Quote:<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Jaguars: Chiefs, @ Raiders, @ Seahawks, Colts, @ Rams, @ Broncos, Chargers, 49ers, @ Titans, Cardinals, @ Texans, @ Browns, Texans, Bills, Titans, @ Colts <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Time to look at the SOS for all three frontrunners. For this I wish we could make tables and charts here. <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Chiefs 9-0, Raiders 3-5, Seahawks 8-1, Colts 6-2, Rams 3-6, Broncos 7-1, Chargers 4-4, 49ers 6-2 Total 46-21 <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Jets 5-4, Saints 6-2, Patriots 7-2, Cardinals 4-4, Eagles 4-5, Falcons 2-6, Panthers 5-3, Seahawks 8-1 Total 41-27 <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Lions 5-3, Bears 5-3, Browns 4-5, Steelers 2-6, Panthers 5-3, Giants 2-6, Packers 5-3, Cowboys 5-4 Total 33-33 <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> <p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">So right now, based on opponent records, Tampa Bay owns the top pick and if the Buccaneers had won in Seattle, they would pick after Minnesota.

Read what I replied that too. The poster before said we're in a win win because if Seahawks win it improves tampas SOS..I was merely pointing out we had also played The Seahawks. |
