Stevie Brown?

Definetly give Jags an A. They've been mentioned with everyone including Suh and McCourty. Can't blame em for trying.

Good job management!
Stevie Brown would be a nice cheap FS, he plays hard and could help until we find the long term guy

#Patriots S Devin McCourty will sign a 5-year, $47.5M contract, source said. Wow. And... turned down more elsewhere
Will be interested to hear if the Jaguars were one of the teams that did.

Maybe tomorrow someone will report how much the Jags, Eagles, and Giants offered so we can compare the offers and see what kind of home discount he gave up.

we should just sign Dwight Lowery and play him at FS again.

I don't understand why people want a starting center when we already have one. The only interior offensive lineman who would fill a need is Mike Iupati unless we draft one.

Julius Thomas, Bryan Bulaga, DeMarco Murray, and Rahim Moore would give us an A in free agency.

Per rotoworld:

Quote:Devin McCourty | NE

(March 8, 2015 10:36 PM EDT)

Patriots re-signed FS Devin McCourty to a multi-year contract.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars, Giants, and Eagles all made a "hard push" to lure McCourty out of Foxboro. The question now becomes whether the Patriots will be able to retain both McCourty and Darrelle Revis, the latter of whom is owed a $12 million option bonus on Monday. McCourty won't turn 28 until August and has been one of the league's most dominant center-field safeties since converting from cornerback. McCourty has eight interceptions and five forced fumbles over the past three seasons. He patrols the deep middle, is an above-average tackler, and can cover man to man when needed.

Well the shelf of top tier free agents is emptying pretty quickly.

So much for 2015 having a deep free agent class

There was a reason the Pats franchised a kicker instead of an All Pro FS, they knew this deal was going to happen eventually all along.

Why sign anybody when we already have players that play their positions?

Also, Iupati is overrated and will not fill a need.

Quote:Gotta laugh at how many guys "turned down more elsewhere". Classic agent speak.

Look at who took a "hometown discount." Randall Cobb and Devin McCourty are on teams that played in the conference championship games. How many of the teams that offered them more money are even playoff contenders?

I guess Bulaga should be re-signing with the the Packers shortly as well considering how pretty much everyone else is re-signing with their former teams.

Because we don't have very good players at all 22 positions, of course. Signing a starting center would be a waste of money because Luke Bowanko has been good for us. Signing a left guard who is much better than Zane Beadles is not.

Apply logic used for guards at center.

I expect it. They have 23 mil in cap space and have said Bulaga is their #1 priority all offseason.

This is why every time I gave my realistic FA expectations I said non Bulaga RTs and 2nd tier FSs.

This is what happens every year at the twilight of FA, people are just pretending that FA already started when it hasn't so they are shocked that all of this re-signing is happening when it is completely normal and expected.

I think you have Beadles and Bowanko mixed up.

Quote:Julius Thomas, one of the lower safties (Moore, Parker, Lewis, not Searcy he's an in the box safety), one of the possible OTTOs (McPhee, Graham, Worilds), one of the non Bulaga RTs (Parnell, Barksdale, Franklin), one of the vet WRs (Maclin, Torrey, Crabtree), maybe even one of the centers (Hudson or Wisniewski).

A handful of guys like what is above is all still possible, would be in line with what reasonable expectations were all along, and make our team way way better. 3 or more marquee FAs like so many people were pining for was always an extreme unlikelihood.
Well, virtually all of this is still possible. A very productive FA period is still very possibly/likely despite so many of the silly expectation bubbles being bursted today.

Good teams draft, develop, and resign their own players. There is no quick fix for the jags until they start drafting better talent

Anybody think we should try revis? Move Colvin to safety? Lol just throwing it out there lol
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

Beadles is the guard everyone was quick to criticize last year. Bowanko is the center everyone said deserves to be the starter.
