They had a 3-4 year championship window and now its closed and their back into rebuilding/NFL mediocrity. How quickly things change.

Indeed.

It seems like they had such a strong young nucleus.

So should we pick off of that carcass?

Willis has been one of my favorite players in the league for years.  I said I would never buy a jersey again, but if we signed him, I would.

Besides Iupati I'd give Bowman one of them there "prove it" contracts that everyone talks about

Their drafting was praised the last few years but alot of those guys have not panned out. Ownership is a disaster.

Offer up Poz for a draft pick or a mid round bump.

I dunno, SDR.

Their drafting resulted in Willis, Bowman, Iupati, Davis, Gore, Alson Smith, et al.

They DID reach the conference title game 3 years straight and the Super Bowl once.

I hate the 49ers but I gotta give credit where due.

To be clear, I think their ownership is a disaster despite the draft hits.

If Bowman gets cut, we better sign him that day, even Willis

But my thing is why would they cut him?

I know he had a major knee injury in the NFC championship game a couple of years ago.

Did he recover?

I think he's talking about their drafts of the last 3 years after they started winning. Besides that linebacker from Wisconsin they have basically busted on every other pick.

Well...if this is the case, he may have a point, though that's kinda what the system is designed to do.

It's almost like that roster was doomed to not have longevity. With all of the turmoil and disappointments here of late, you have to think that there is something wrong at the top.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I am talking the last three years. The guys you mentioned were added mostly 2005-2010. That led to them becoming a great team but as talent left, they were not replaced.

Exactly.

That ownership reminds me of Jerry Jones to a certain degree.

They hit lightning in a bottle with one coach (Harbaugh) and had success...but will otherwise prove to be inept football people.
