Fanspeak Mock Draft
|
I'm really having issues with this site's engine.
I tried several different draft boards yesterday, and three times in a row they had Mariota coming off first. Really? It's still fun, though. Realistic or not, to me it makes an easier mock when I'm selecting the Jaguars only instead of all 32 in trying to trim down the pool between each round's pick.

I think Gurley would be a primary draft target for Dallas if they don't get someone in free agency

Gurley in the 3rd round. Koyack is a very good blocking TE and would allow us to move on from Lewis as he is also a better pass catcher. I think Chickillo could be a good LEO. Myers provides interior depth. Varga is a very good FB. </div> </div> We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I wanted to see if it was possible to fill important defensive holes, if we use our first round pick on a WR. I couldn't get an ILB and a decent FS prospect, but got a pass rusher and some others...
3: R1P3 WR KEVIN WHITE WVU 36: R2P4 S DERRON SMITH FRESNO STATE 67: R3P3 OLB LORENZO MAULDIN LOUISVILLE 100: R4P4 RB DAVID COBB MINNESOTA 131: R5P3 OLB MAX VALLES VIRGINIA 164: R6P4 FB JALSTON FOWLER ALABAMA 195: R7P3 G JARVIS HARRISON TEXAS A&M
Using the fan speak board I got the following.
3: R1P3 DE ALVIN DUPREE KENTUCKY 36: R2P4 RB TODD GURLEY GEORGIA 67: R3P3 CB BYRON JONES CONNECTICUT 100: R4P4 WR TYLER LOCKETT KANSAS STATE 131: R5P3 DT XAVIER WILLIAMS NORTHERN IOWA 164: R6P4 ILB HAYES PULLARD USC 195: R7P3 S DAMARIOUS RANDALL ARIZONA STATE

Top end defensive talent at the top plus a continuation of the "Help Blake" them of the off-season. The thing that makes me more excited with this draft is that we won't have 5th and 6th round player starting and playing heavy minutes. Outside of the top 2-3 rounds of player they won't be forced into starting roles. This is the year i think we focus on depth at strong positions where we have the luxury of developing them. 4th round and down will be brought into reserve roles to develop them properly while the top 3 get premium minutes. Marshall is an intriguing prospect that we may be able to move to safety. Miller is a starting guard whom we could either groom to unseat Beadles of just have for starting caliber depth in case of interior line injuries. Waller is a big 238 lb, 6'6 4.46 WR that we can have as a big target to develop behind Hurns, Lee, and Robinson with a veteran WR. He has all the measurables and is a good quality prospect to spend a seventh round pick on. Heuerman is another pass catching TE who can developed in order to "help Blake". Decent speed and great hands for a TE. Played against good competition in college.
I used the NDT board and holy cow is their board really messed up.
Chickillo could be a decent LEO and in the 7th round, wow. Collins is a 1st round prospect and getting a CB of his quality in the 5th would be a no doubt. Holliman is one of the better FS and in the 6th, very good value. <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">3: R1P3 <div>DT LEONARD WILLIAMS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">36: R2P4 <div>RB TODD GURLEY GEORGIA </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">67: R3P3 <div>ILB DENZEL PERRYMAN MIAMI </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">100: R4P4 <div>WR TYLER LOCKETT KANSAS STATE </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">131: R5P3 <div>CB JALEN COLLINS LOUISIANA STATE </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">164: R6P4 <div>S GEROD HOLLIMAN LOUISVILLE </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">195: R7P3 <div>DE ANTHONY CHICKILLO MIAMI </div> </div> We show less advertisements to registered users. GM Dave Caldwell has drafted an Offensive player in his tenure as a Jaguars GM, LT Joke'll and Boredstill
That being said should we be shocked if he drafts a WR like Cooper at #3? The Jaguars last official depth chart, WR Allen Robinson (Injured = Stress fracture [foot] might not be ready), Allen Hurns (decent WR like Blackmon can uses his body), M. Lee (needs to continue to improve), Ace Sanders (shocked he wasnt cut). The GM Dave Caldwell agreed the team had no real #1 WR and allowed the Texans to sign Cecil Shorts, that shows a need (despite our love for the young WR core) & Bryan Walters was really signed for special teams and not to be a real WR threat.

Have people tried other boards ? Which is the most realistic do you think ?
Quote:Have people tried other boards ? Which is the most realistic do you think ?Seems like every board has its strengths and weaknesses. I'm seeing boards where the QB, RB and other positions look good, but then they have Kevin White as like the 9th best WR, and different stuff on different boards. Overall, seems like the buffalobillsdraft one isn't ridiculously horrible.

Seems like the computer blindly selects what they've decided a team needs regardless of talent on the board at positions the site deems as less "needy".

Quote:3 WRs in a row? Yep, they were all best available, in my opinion. By some folks projections, 2 rounds behind draft grade. Look at what round they were still on the board. Dorsett in the 4th? McBride lasts until the 5th? Diggs 6th? And to add to it, Mannion 7th? The nuttiness wouldn't be picking those three players in a row, it would be having those three available to pick there. You'd have to take them, given what scraps were available at the other positions. Again, the mock engine is severely flawed for those guys to have been left on the board where they were taken.
