Release The Kraken

Greg "The Kraken" Hardy...

Free agent young sack master (DE 6'4 275 26 yrs old), a perfect Leo, on Commissioner's Exempt list for a domestic violence incident.  Do you go after him?

My initial reaction was "no", do not pay millions to a man who hit a woman.  The negative PR is also not what this team needs.  Life is bigger than football.

Then, Caldwell speaks yesterday about forgiveness when Hardy is brought up in the press conference, and this little red devil pops up on my shoulder, whispering in my ear "yesssss".  We all have made a mistake that we all regret, and let him play and thrive in a Gus culture of goodness and live a virtuous life.  Let him show that his mistake is behind him, that he's learned, and that another 15 sack season for the lowly Jags is proper penance.

I'm torn.  What are your thoughts?

I think we should make a run at him.  We aren't going to get a bigger impact from anyone in the draft at his position.  He's a star DE, and he would make the only lacking areas in our D our LB corps (draft) and FS.  I also feel like we should either make a strong run at Gipson or sign Parker.

I understand this sentiment entirely. It's what gives me pause when I think about signing him. But there have been countless domestic abusers who have repented of their ways...plus, weren't the charges dropped? I imagine Hardy understands his career is on the line.

While the possibility that he abused a woman sickens me, I don't think he should have to pay the penalty for that for the rest of his life if he changes going forward.

I say go after him. The iggles handled Vick and got 3 solid years of success from it. If he can produce at a high level for longer than that due to his age them his level of production would have a similar effect with other players around him. He has had 42 sacks in 4 years and double digit sacks 3 of the last 4 years. He made a mistake and looks like the legal part is over. It okay to exercise forgiveness even for talented human beings. This is his craft and he should be able to do it if he is remorse full and paid his debt for his mistakes.

Look how Jared Allen worked out for the vikings and Vincent Jackson with those teams. I trust Caldwell can make better use of those types of acquisitions  with stronger players around theme with a dynamic defense.

I say go after Greg Hardy

If I were Dave Caldwell, I would go after him.

As a fan, I don't want him based on what he did.....

I know that doesn't make sense, but it makes sense

Sign Hardy. The line would be pretty awesome.

Then, draft Fowler to be the OTTO in training behind Skuta.

Then, draft Kendricks/Perryman/McKinney to be the middle linebacker in training behind poz and then our linebacker core is pretty much set with the line.

Did he do something wrong? Yes. Does he deserve a second chance? Yes; until it happens again. If it happens again, then we know there is issues. I'm ok with giving him a shot and going after him. Would add a lot to our rush on defense.

GO JAGS!!

Does it matter????

Anyway, like i said Dave should persue him. His job is to put the best football team together from the talent available. Its the commissioners job to decide who is apart of the available talent....

Like I said in my post, as a fan, I'm not a fan of his, but I understand Dave has a job to do.

I found it :

On June 15, 2014, Hardy was convicted of assaulting his partner Nicole Holder.[14] According to Holder, “On May 13, 2014, Greg Hardy attacked me in his apartment. Hardy picked me up and threw me into the tile tub area in his bathroom. I have bruises from head to toe, including my head, neck, back, shoulders arms, legs, elbow and feet. Hardy pulled me from the tub by my hair, screaming at me that he was going to kill me, break my arms and other threats that I completely believe. He drug me across the bathroom and out into the bedroom. Hardy choked me with both hands around my throat while I was lying on the floor. Hardy picked me up over his head and threw me onto a couch covered in assault rifles and/or shotguns. I landed on those weapons. Hardy bragged that all of those assault rifles were loaded. Landing on those weapons bruised [my] neck and back. Hardy screamed for his “administrative assistant” (Sammy Curtis) to come into the room and hold me down. Curtis came into the room, grabbed me from behind and held me down. Hardy and Curtis then took me into the living room area. I wasn’t nearly strong or fast enough to escape. I begged them to let me go & I wouldn’t tell anyone what he did. They took me out into the hall, pushed me down & went back inside his apartment. I crawled to the elevator and ran into CMPD (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department) Hardy exercised his right under North Carolina law to appeal the conviction.[15] After playing Week 1, Hardy was deactivated Week 2 against the Detroit Lions.[16] On September 17, 2014 Hardy agreed to be placed on the exempt list. He continued to draw a salary of $13.1 million in spite of being ineligible to play in NFL games or practice with the Panthers.[17] The charges against Hardy were dismissed on February 9, 2015 after the accuser failed to show for court.[18]

Seems she no showed the trial and the charges were dropped

If someone is all in your face…I think picking them up//pushing them away//on a bed is better than a fist punch but thats just me...

I'm completely confused.  Reports about this incident are all over the place.  Apparently he was both found guilty AND the charges were dropped????

Many people say he payed her off, but it seems like baseless claims. Just speculation, that may or may not be true, because he has money.
