Quote:I think I dislike the person more than I like the player in this situation, and I like the player quite a bit. I'm all for bringing in some nasty non choir boy players like Parnell, but a legitimately bad human being like Hardy I would pass. I think Hardy would step in as day 1 Leo and make an impact….he isn't just a player that is available and we got money to spend. Has Hardy had any other issues with the law/team? I mean if this is 1 incident and the lady (whether paid off or not) dropped the charges basically….I don't see how we can label him as some terrible human being. Now I understand domestic violence isn't usually a 1 time thing but if he has only had 1 "known" incident and served his year + whatever amount of games for this year...how much do you want to punish a dude that for all we know could have been a "baseless claim money grab" or heaven forbid you halfway believe his story that coked/drunk girl would not leave his house after repeated efforts so he finally did have to escort her out…which I'm sure she did willingly. Quote:I think Hardy would step in as day 1 Leo and make an impact….he isn't just a player that is available and we got money to spend.I do think Hardy is an exceptional talent, but his situation is not nearly that simple. He does have a track record. He was suspended in college for missing multiple team meetings, sparring with coaches, and repeatedly missing class. On top of that he was benched and criticized publicly in college and NFL for lack of work ethic and bad behavior. He was the guy that started a lot of the ethical combine questioning stuff because teams asked him a lot about if he was bi polar, had schizophrenia, or any other mental issues. Even if you are in the camp that thinks asking that stuff was inappropriate, the fact that there were wide concerns about mental issues among many of the teams says something to me.There were a lot of concerns about that coming in, which is by far the reason that he fell to the 6th round. Off the field, he sustained a concussion in 2011 after crashing a motorcycle while speeding, and has two other speeding violations on his record...and also a driving without a license/registration that was rectified and dismissed. Yes obviously some of all of this sounds trivial, but it adds up. If Dave looks digs into it and is willing to give him a chance I support it (even though a whole lot of people won't, for deserved reasons), but I feel like most people that want him are simply like "OOOOOO LOTS OF SACKS GET HIM!" without looking at what the potentially severe ramifications of doing so could be.
I side with Caldwell on the situation. I'd consider bringing him in only after some more research on the situation and whether or not he's remorseful, he admits he was wrong, and striving to change. Has he had any other transgressions like this in his past or was this the first major incident in his life?
Quote:I do think Hardy is an exceptional talent, but his situation is not nearly that simple. That stuff is: A) In the past. B )Ticky tack stuff. Speeding? So. C) I believe in redemption. So let the guy redeem himself.
If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts
#iamlegend Quote:That stuff is:A) Yes, a lot of it was small stuff I pointed that out...but it still adds up. He has a lengthy history of ignoring team rules, ignoring class attendance rules, ignoring minor laws, and now ignoring major laws. You can't just gloss over all of that. C) I believe in redemption too. I absolutely support how the team has handled the Blackmon situation. He could be a major feel good story if he comes back and performs well. There is a big difference when the redemption story includes paying a large contract to risk that redemption, while also drawing the ire of what is going to be a whole lot of people who disagree with him beating and threatening to kill a woman. Not to mention the gun thing. If Dave looks at all of that and decides it's worth the gamble then I support it. But if he doesn't, and I don't suspect that he will, I am perfectly ok with that too. I feel you on that. thats why you line the contract with clauses. If he wants the money, he is going to have to earn it the right and legal way.

sign him!
we need some more goons on the team all great teams have at least a couple of goons
Quote:I do think Hardy is an exceptional talent, but his situation is not nearly that simple. I think you are really really reaching to build up a track record... Missing Meetings in College: Has this continued with Carolina…If no I would dismiss completely. Sparring with Coaches in College: His head coach was Ed Orgeron…Who famously ripped off his shirt and challenged his players to "Whoop his A**" on his first day there. I don't see why this wouldn't mesh with all the players with no sparring…sounds like a players coach. Repeatedly Missing Classes in College: Really really reaching on this…as Cardale Jones says…They here to play ball not play school. Benched in NFL for Bad Behavior: Can you elaborate what bad behavior this is? Mental Health Issues: Some guys play with a loose screw and some people are eccentric with their life…if he hasn't been diagnosed with schizo why is this an issue? Speeding: Not DUI….Not hitting another vehicle…not killing a pedestrian but 3 speeding counts? Some board members have more than that…Terrible human beings they must be according to you? Like I've stated hitting a woman is a no go….but I can see where a self admitted "on coke" woman could make a baseless claim or that she would be confrontation as well. And for the above points those are great against drafting him which is why he fell but now after some years in the NFL…I mean C'mon Man.

Quote:I think you are really really reaching to build up a track record... Because hes not a golden child people say hes a bad person. Living a life full of political correctness (for lack of a bettter word) is a prison....... I respect him more for being human and having faults. #sorrynotsorry Quote:I think you are really really reaching to build up a track record...That's fine, blow it all off if you want. YEAAAAAH SACKZ!
Quote:That's fine, blow it all off if you want. YEAAAAAH SACKZ!Nice rebuttal... You have a point with the hitting a woman but you really going to hold all the above against him?
Quote:That's fine, blow it all off if you want. YEAAAAAH SACKZ! Thats all that I really care about. He is a football player, not a public servant. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Here is an account of what Hardy was like in college to be termed "schizo"..you can filter through the comments.
http://hsmississippi.scout.com/forums/30...st-falcons This has nothing to do with showing class or any of that. If you know Greg Hardy the guy is just wired differently. Borderline crazy! lol I remember the guy use to wear Hawaian shirts with shorts and flip flops in the winter to class. I use to think wth is wrong with this dude. ![]() ![]() ----- “You think the guy’s a little off. Then you have a chance to talk to him and you realize, ‘Oh yeah, this guy’s a little off,’” defensive tackle Dwan Edwards told the Observer. “It all kind of matches up between his personality and the stuff that he does.” Its funny that a guy in the league says the exact same thing. Guys a little off! lol ---- No not at all... but have you heard the term "Space Freak?" Greg once braided his hair in 3 spikes coming out of the sides and the top of his head... I've had the pleasure of "kicking it" with GHardy because he was good friends with a couple of walk-ons who I knew real well. He's definitely out there, but no this does not excuse any action... got to grow up sometime. I'll give him a 'C'MON MAN.'

There's the latest on him. Kinda weird that the interested team wanted to remain anonymous. Obviously there is going to be some serious public and media backlash (deservedly so). Might be worth it if you actually land him and he produces like he did, but not worth it to merely be linked and wind up not getting him I guess. We will find out what Dave feels soon enough.

If Stallworth could kill a dude and be forgiven and Ray Lewis allegations could be forgiven and him be loved by fans I'm sure that Hardy//Rice//Peterson will all eventually be forgotten and if they can stay out of trouble this backlash will all be forgotten by next year.
Quote:I'd love to hear the discussions between Caldwell and Khan as to what the fan reaction might be to a signing.Hahahaha. Don't know what else to say to this. They're trying to win games, not please fans. Wins will please the fans. Hence, "even if he's released". Quote:Hahahaha. Don't know what else to say to this. You don't really understand this whole pro football thing, do you? The Jaguars are in the smallest market, having trouble selling tickets. They rely on the goodwill of their fans and sponsors. You better believe they are trying to please fans. Thus, the attempt to improve "the fan experience". A whole lot of fans are woman, or wives/girlfriends of ticket buyers - and they matter. If they sign Hardy, fine, they've made a decision. But to think they don't have to be concerned with possible repercussions is ignorant and short-sighted.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
