I think I dislike the person more than I like the player in this situation, and I like the player quite a bit. I'm all for bringing in some nasty non choir boy players like Parnell, but a legitimately bad human being like Hardy I would pass. 

 

I am content with merely spending more than the 2nd and 3rd place spenders combined this offseason. If Dave wants to add another ancillary piece or two that would be great, but another expensive splash player just because FA fever is strong is not necessary to me. 

 

I think Hardy would step in as day 1 Leo and make an impact….he isn't just a player that is available and we got money to spend.

 

Has Hardy had any other issues with the law/team?  I mean if this is 1 incident and the lady (whether paid off or not) dropped the charges basically….I don't see how we can label him as some terrible human being.  

 

Now I understand domestic violence isn't usually a 1 time thing but if he has only had 1 "known" incident and served his year + whatever amount of games for this year...how much do you want to punish a dude that for all we know could have been a "baseless claim money grab" or heaven forbid you halfway believe his story that coked/drunk girl would not leave his house after repeated efforts so he finally did have to escort her out…which I'm sure she did willingly.

He does have a track record. He was suspended in college for missing multiple team meetings, sparring with coaches, and repeatedly missing class. On top of that he was benched and criticized publicly in college and NFL for lack of work ethic and bad behavior. He was the guy that started a lot of the ethical combine questioning stuff because teams asked him a lot about if he was bi polar, had schizophrenia, or any other mental issues. Even if you are in the camp that thinks asking that stuff was inappropriate, the fact that there were wide concerns about mental issues among many of the teams says something to me.There were a lot of concerns about that coming in, which is by far the reason that he fell to the 6th round.

 

Off the field, he sustained a concussion in 2011 after crashing a motorcycle while speeding, and has two other speeding violations on his record...and also a driving without a license/registration that was rectified and dismissed. Yes obviously some of all of this sounds trivial, but it adds up. 

 

If Dave looks digs into it and is willing to give him a chance I support it (even though a whole lot of people won't, for deserved reasons), but I feel like most people that want him are simply like "OOOOOO LOTS OF SACKS GET HIM!" without looking at what the potentially severe ramifications of doing so could be.

I side with Caldwell on the situation. I'd consider bringing him in only after some more research on the situation and whether or not he's remorseful, he admits he was wrong, and striving to change. There's the latest on him. Kinda weird that the interested team wanted to remain anonymous. Obviously there is going to be some serious public and media backlash (deservedly so). Might be worth it if you actually land him and he produces like he did, but not worth it to merely be linked and wind up not getting him I guess. We will find out what Dave feels soon enough.

You don't really understand this whole pro football thing, do you?

 

The Jaguars are in the smallest market, having trouble selling tickets. They rely on the goodwill of their fans and sponsors. You better believe they are trying to please fans. Thus, the attempt to improve "the fan experience".

 

A whole lot of fans are woman, or wives/girlfriends of ticket buyers - and they matter. If they sign Hardy, fine, they've made a decision. But to think they don't have to be concerned with possible repercussions is ignorant and short-sighted.
