How is it a witch hunt? You're assuming I have strict standards on the issue and I don't.. my issue is that guys like Hardy went too far, and that's when as a moral, ethical person, you say no thanks. Stop allowing a game to be more important that being a decent person. Stop allowing domestic abuse, violence and rape, by giving free passes just because they are good at something. After a while you absolutely lose the right to have great jobs, there are penalties, suspensions etc.. He has already had his free passes, it's time he pay for what he has done, which is another suspension, low contract, laden with behavior guidelines, whatever it takes.

I could give two blades of grass about speeding tickets, smoking weed, partying, sleeping in a bed full of guns.. I'm all about doing what you like when you are at home. The problem is he has crossed into another area of problems which is lack of self control. It's too evident that he has problems.

I'm not intending my tone to be so harsh here. Hardy is not the worst offender in the league, but it's too late for him to be given free passes for hurting other people. Second chances are nice and all, but what is the actual line?

It's the justice system's job to deliver justice - not employers'.

If he wasn't good at his job he shouldn't be hired... because he is not good at his job.

This is as simple as: Can he do the job that he is being paid to do?

Nobody is saying that you should arrange a marriage for your daughter to this man.

It's a fair point... but I just don't think it's thaat simple. It's complicated and moreover when does he become Hernandez? or O.J. Does he have that in him?   .. Or can he turn himself around (and that doesnt mean wearing pollos and giving his testimony in a church basement)

Get off this moral high horse of yours...

Basically your rant is any person charged whether found guilty or not of rape//domestic abuse//assault should be made an example of and their careers ended. Hell half the NFL should be dismissed under this.

Once again under the Court of Law he is Innocent...Just like Jameis Winston under the Court of Law his is innocent of rape. But you know the details and have determined they went too far and they shouldn't be allowed to have careers.

You stated multiple incidents which would strengthen the point yet no one can provide any besides speeding tickets and this dropped charge.

The opposite is true as well what happens to innocent until proven guilty?

What happens to innocence (charges being dropped) meaning innocent and not holding prejudice of their future?

Guess we have perfect minority report technology and Hardy is destined to do this again like Stallworth hitting another person and Ray Lewis doing murder...Jameis will rape again too.

Calm down, lol I never say anywhere that people charged shouldn't have rights or be fired etc, etc and ultimately be protected from crazies who make stuff up

Him (Winston too) got off on technicalities and it happens too often in the with athletes .. you can throw out cliches and banal platitudes all day, but at some degree you take the individual situations and stand up for what's right. Only Greg and a few others know what happened that night, only Winston, the girl and maybe a few others know what happened... but when you can plainly see that athletes are receiving special treatment, something inside you has to tick and say, something isn't right here. I get it's not the employees responsibility to fix social flaws, justice system flaws etc.. but there is something to be said for speaking out against things you think are wrong. Now that this conversation has take a spin in an entirely different direction...

Smartest thing you've posted yet

And the Court of Law found them innocent so why should their careers be taken away?

Hey BEJ, you aren't found innocent in the court of law, you are found not guilty. There's a difference.

Well I'm not saying it should be taken away (yet) but I'm saying, I would pass and yeah maybe that is a little strict/harsh.

So then, what is your suggestion as to contract, and as to the what if? Even if it's dropped charges, just an accusation?

I don't believe either of them are completely innocent for even a second. But I also don't believe its anyone's place other than the justice system to be doling out punishment.

If they get into trouble and it affects the job or is written into a contract, then by all means, take corrective actions as an employer. But as a prospective employer who is looking to make a hire, its really none of my business to judge past transgressions unless you believe them to affect future employment. If I think Hardy will get into future trouble which results in future discipline, then I won't hire him if I think it isn't worth the trouble.

To be perfectly clear on my point...I think Ray Rice shouldn't be allowed to play in the NFL ever. To some degree I hold Adrian Peterson to that as well. Stallworth should have never been allowed to play again. The same goes for Brent from the Cowboys...heck Blackmon's pattern of repeated DUIs makes me near that level as well.

If he was found guilty Hardy would be in the boat as well.

My issue is that those who had the facts of the case determined through technicalities or being paid off or just straight up facts...determined that he wasn't guilty of said charge.

Who are we that don't have the facts.only what the media reports to hold them guilty?

Quote:Ya, I don't have a clue about Jacksonville do I, I've only not lived their for 6 months since the teams inception. Now look where the ignorance is coming from. Teams don't take fan polls to sign players bud, get over it.

LOL - sorry you're so upset. That must be upsetting.

I'm sure you have your finger on the pulse of the community, bud.

If you are so dense as to not understand that the NFL is part of the entertainment industry and needs to consider it's paying customers than you are too dense to find your way home. You are the flip side of the Tebowites. That's fine with me, you don't make any decisions.

And we wonder why many elite NFL players have a sense of entitlement.

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

In the court of public opinion you have a point but in the Court of Law innocent means innocent...see Casey Anthony//Zimmerman.

Nice Rebuttal provide some insight...

Technically you can only be found Guilty as you are assumed Innocent until Proven Guilty…Not Guilty mean your innocence is maintained.

Please tell me of some cases were punishments were handed out for being found "Not Guilty"

In the Court of Law…Casey Anthony//Zimmerman did nothing wrong and will not be punished….You//I//Jurors//Judges know they weren't innocent and played a part but as far as the Law is concerned they were innocent.

Was a ruling of we know you did it but just couldn't prove it handed down?  Or was it an innocent ruling?  Jurors//Lawyers can say that but what does the Court of Law say?

I get your point there is a huge difference in Not Guilty//Innocent  but in the eyes of the Court the rulings are strictly guilty or innocent….ill give you not guilty due to a reason (i.e. insanity).

They don't rule innocent, they rule not guilty.

I can't continue to repeat myself. I'm saying one simple FACT. It's not a presumption, it's a ruling. The prosecution has the burden of proof. If they can't prove guilty without a reasonable doubt, the dependent is found I.e. Ruled, not guilty. There is no burden of proof for defense to prove a client innocent. It's the way our court of law works. Re read my posts before you call someone else a bad reader.
