Quote: My impression is while most Jaguars fans and those who follow the NFL closely appreciated Rashean Mathis'  contribution to the Jaguars during most of his time with the team,   overall I thought he was one of the most underrated players in the NFL.   I expressed something along these lines on this MB a number of times long before Mathis signed with the Lions.   What I wasn't as aware of back then is the tremendous value Mathis provides as a leader.   To the point that Lions Defensive Coordinator Teryl Austin describes Mathis as a coach on the field.

There are a few Jaguars whose market probably hurt their visibility to fans outside the market, but were certainly respected inside NFL circles amongst their peers and coaches.  Meester comes to mind.

Brad Meester is a very good illustration of what you mentioned.

Another player that comes to mind during his time with the Jaguars is Daryl Smith.

Mike Peterson too.

 Agreed,

This is a prime example of a good player hitting the open market as an UFA because of a team ( Colts )  having a number of high priced players on the roster.  The decision by Bill Polian to view his OLBs as replaceable certainly worked to the Jaguars advantage in the case of Peterson.

Seems to finally have put the injury bug behind him and is putting together a solid career.

Not really.

(Stop me if you have heard this one before)

He missed all of last year with an injury.

How this guy is still able to get a contract is beyond me.

Interesting. Better for his PT to go to Cleveland. Glad we didn't try to overspend.

Does anybody have video of P Manning's 33 yard rush.

I would really like to see it.

There's no way it can be against the Jags, because I am sure I would have remembered it.

Who is the team that gave up that 32 yd rush?

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Holy crap. Cleveland has to know how much of a horrible decision that would be for Manziel. He needs to be as far out of the spotlight as possible if he is gonna make any gains in his career.

Can't wait to see whats next.
