Wow...I saw a few games and that kid was a MONSTER flying all over the field.  Go on him for thinking long term, but wow.  Between him, Locker, and Worilds all walking away early plus all the trades, Gore going from Philly to Indy...this has been a CRAZY offseason!

Can you refute that thinking?

This is exactly my thinking. Sounds bad, but it is what it is.

It's just like anything else. Education is key. Football will continue to be the great game it is played on all levels in all demographics throughout the nation. Knowing the risks and and preventative measures (and of course equipment design will get better from a safety stand point) will allow us all to continue to enjoy the game and parents to continue to have their kids in everything from sandlot, pop warner to the pros.

So we don't have to assume that those dumb ghetto dwellers (what the heck is a ghetto anyway?) will be left behind in a cloud of stupid.

Just to reflect back on my own inner city upbringing here in Rochester, when I wasn't in South Bay,FL chasin rabbits outta cane fields, running rampid, honing my skill without even realizing it, me and my boys would go to different parks in the suburbs handing out butt woopins. With ease. Going back to our ghetto huts bumpin some Snoop... Laughin and joking about them weak, slow non athletic opponents

Maybe he values his brain a bit more than you do. It takes a real man to walk away from millions of dollars so he will have an opportunity to live a long a fruitful life without all the complications you hear about from other former football players. CTE is real.

Yeah, what a wuss. Doesn't want to have mush for brains in his 40's and shoot himself.

CTE might explain why some football players mismanage their money. Retiring early might actually pay off.

See Jerry Richardson aka the billionaire owner of the Panthers.

Possibly a small part of it.

Very small part.

If only everyone walked away from a dangerous job.  Police, firefighters, deployed military, coal miners, etc would be smart if they just walked off the job - nevermind supporting their families.

This country has become so risk adverse that it's scary.

You think by some stretch of the imagination that a cop, firefighter, military, or coal miner have never quit the job before?

So we're comparing guys playing a sport to first responders and the military?

Cool.

I don't think many of them were offered enough money to financial secure their family's for life and then decided the job was too dangerous.  I'm sure it's happened, especially in modern day America, but I just don't see police, firefighters, and EMS walking off the job because it's too dangerous.  I've never seen it anyways.

What doctor walks off the job because he feels like the likelihood of him catching a disease is too high?

Yes.  Just because its a less noble job, doesn't mean its not a job.
