WTH?!? Adrian Peterson
|
NFL Networks Ian Rappaport was talking about Adrian Peterson, specifically that the Vikings were not going to cut him.
However, he indicated that does not mean he would be with the Vikings. He indicated the Vikings MIGHT be interested in trading the Vikings. Rappaport indicated three teams might be interested in trading for Peterson: Arizona Dallas and... Jacksonville. AP is a heckuva player and has been for years. Any doubt anyone had about his greatness should have been erased when he came back so quickly from the torn ACL and was thoroughly dominant. But the Jaguars should not trade for him. He is too old and expensive to justify giving away a pick in a RB deep draft. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Interesting.
The only way the Jags go after Peterson is if he can be had with a 3rd rounder and he agrees to restructure. I'm not sure Peterson is willing to do that though, especially going from one rebuilding team to another one. However if the Jags did land Peterson somehow, they'd instantly be the most talented offense in the AFC South.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. Quote:Interesting.I'd be reluctant to give up anything more than a 4th. But your closing line is intriguing. I don't know if I would go that far. Perhaps you could argue that skill positions wise, that would be the case, but even assuming a big leap for Bortles and a return for Blackmon, I'd still tend to favor Indy Luck Gore Johnson Hilton Moncrief Allen Fleener to Jacksonville's Bortles Peterson Blackmon A. Robinson Lee Thomas Lewis Age wise, the edge would go to Jacksonville. If you factor in OL, that would drop Jacksonville's grade. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:I'd be reluctant to give up anything more than a 4th.I see your point. I don't consider Gore a factor anymore. I don't even see him running for 1,000 this year but I do see your point Adrian Peterson would easily be the most talented offensive player in the division though. People don't realize that the year Peterson took off probably did more good than harm. I feel like most running backs would probably benefit from a non-injury related year off from the game.

I'd do a third and keep his contract. Dallas can't afford him at that price and idk Arizona's cap situation but we have the luxury to be able to afford him at that price with no worry. If keeping the contract guarantees us AP, why not?
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I don't even see him running for 1,000 this year but I do see your pointAs I think about it, you may well be right. I agree with you regarding Gore. I'll be tossing this around in my head the next couple of days. As I would rank them now: AFCS QBs 1. Luck 2. Bortles 3. Mettenberger 4. Mallet AFCS RBs 1. Foster 2. Gore 3. Sankey 4. D. Robinson (Peterson would immediately go to the top of this list) AFCS WRs. 1. Andre Johnson 2. Deandre Hopkins 3. T.Y. Hilton 4. Nate Washington 5. Allen Robinson 6. Allen Hurns 7. Kendall Wright 8. Marqise Lee 9. Donte Moncrief (if Blackmon were to be reinstated and return to exactly where he was prior to his suspension, he'd be ranked first. But for obvious reasons, those are two HUGE ifs). AFCS TE 1. Julius Thomas 2. Dwayne Allen 3. Delanie Walker 4. Coby Fleener 5. Marcedes Lewis 6. Garret Graham What say you guys? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:As I think about it, you may well be right. I agree with you regarding Gore. I think DRob is better than Sankey, and possibly better than Gore going forward but that depends on if Gore falls off. Which I expect him to do. As of now the rest is correct IMO, but I think you'll see ARob and Lee much closer to the top of the WR list by season end.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
After looking again, I might swap Delanie Walker and Dwayne Allen ranks as well.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Id piss rainbows and unicorns if we somehow got our hands on AP, couldn't careless what the contract is. Freaking AP in teal with Julius Thomas are you kidding me? Yes please

A 3rd for Peterson? A 3rd for a 30 year old RB who hasn't played in a year, has over 2,000 attempts, and a HUGE contract? Ummmm no.
Quote:A 3rd for Peterson? A 3rd for a 30 year old RB who hasn't played in a year, has over 2,000 attempts, and a HUGE contract? Ummmm no. What? He's 30 but just had an entire year of r&r I could easily see Peterson playing at a high level for another 2-3 years.
Quote:What? He's 30 but just had an entire year of r&r I could easily see Peterson playing at a high level for another 2-3 years. Sorry, not worth it. If Dave wouldn't pay 8 mil for a 27 year old Murray, I can't see how he would pay over 10 mil for a 30 year old Peterson AND give up a 3rd.
Interesting.... AP in teal. He's under contract for 3 more years for roughly $13m, 15, and 17 in salary that someone trading for him would be taking on. None of the amounts are guaranteed, so you could play him for 1 or 2 years and let him walk without any consequence if wanted. I would be tempted to take him for a year, and then try to restructure his deal. His contract he is currently playing under was backloaded (much higher amounts in the later years). Not sure that I would want to take him on for essentially a 1 or 2 year deal at this high salary for much more than a 3rd or 4th round pick. But, wow, just think of the offense and how the team would become instantly relevant for many people.

Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
He'd garner at best a fifth of sixth round pick from any team based on his age alone. Yes, he's a great player, but for how much longer? He'd have to be willing to rework that contract too. Those numbers just wouldn't fly.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Those numbers just wouldn't fly.Even on a team with as much cap room as the Jaguars. The only way I would even consider such a deal is if we wound up on day 3 of the draft and wound up without a RB after the 3rd round. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Thinking about this, I believe Houston has the best OL...but could possibly have the worst offense in the division due to QB.
I think they have better skill players than Tennessee at this point. I think Jacksonville has the worst OL right now but due to youth all over the offense, could be poised to make the biggest jump forward offensively. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
It sounded like Rap sheet was just speculating to me. I don't see Caldwell trading for him for the reasons HolsterHusto outlined.
